Bundles

Portable package bundles — capture a set of packages, export them as one shareable bundle, and restore them on another machine (or share as community bundles).

Overview

A bundle is a self-contained set of packages (and their metadata) that can be moved between machines. Instead of remembering "what did I install on this box", you export a bundle once and reinstall it anywhere NeoArch runs.

  • Export — pick the packages you want and create a bundle file.
  • Import — read a bundle created elsewhere.
  • Install — apply a bundle's packages to the current machine (installing what's missing).
  • Share — publish a bundle for others, or pull community bundles.

1. Bundle table & ⋯ menu

The main table lists all packages in the active bundle with columns: checkbox, Package, Source, Status. Each row has a ⋯ menu on the right.

The ⋯ menu per row offers:

  • Install — install the package if it's not already installed
  • Remove from Bundle — remove the package from the current bundle
  • View in browser — open the package page in your browser
  • Copy name — copy the package name to clipboard

2. Toolbar actions

Button What it does
Install Bundle Install all packages in the active bundle that aren't installed yet
Clear Remove all packages from the active bundle
☁ Sync Upload your bundle to the cloud (requires sign-in)
↻ Restore Download and restore bundles from the cloud

3. Source panel (left sidebar)

The left panel has five sections:

Sources

Lists your enabled package sources (official repos, AUR, etc.). Toggle sources on/off to filter which packages are available when building bundles.

Bundles

Shows all your saved bundles with package count. Click a bundle to activate it — the table updates to show its packages. The + button creates a new bundle.

Share Code

Generate a share code for the active bundle. Others can paste this code to import your bundle on their machine.

  • Generate — create a share code for the current bundle
  • Copy — copy the code to clipboard

Import Code

Paste a share code to import a bundle from someone else.

  • Paste the code into the text field and press Import (or Enter)

Actions

  • Export — save the active bundle as a file
  • Import — load a bundle from a file
  • Manage Cloud — manage your cloud-stored bundles

How to use

  1. Create a bundle — click the + in the Bundles section and give it a name.
  2. Add packages — go to Discover, check packages you want, and click Add to Bundle in the toolbar.
  3. Sync — click ☁ Sync to upload your bundle to the cloud.
  4. Restore — on another machine, click ↻ Restore to download and apply the bundle.
  5. Share — generate a share code or export the bundle as a file.

Good to know

  • Bundles complement (not replace) backups: backups capture package state, bundles capture package sets.
  • Installing a bundle still goes through the normal install path — AUR packages inside it pass the security scan.
  • Building from source instead? The Git Repositories page handles git-based projects; bundles handle binary packages.
