Installed Packages

Manage what's already on your system: list, filter, remove, hold, downgrade, and inspect full package details.

Overview

The Installed page shows every package on your machine as reported by pacman, in a single redesigned table, with the same filters and actions NeoArch uses everywhere. Because it reads the real package database, what you see here is exactly what pacman -Q reports — no guesses.

  • One table of your whole system — every installed package with its version, size, source, and install date, searchable and sortable.
  • An at-a-glance source panel — package sources, system health, and quick maintenance actions all in one place.
  • Full details — click any row (or use the row menu) to open a detail card: what it does, what depends on it, files, and more.
  • Everything runs on selections — pick rows and update or uninstall them together, from the toolbar or a row's ⋯ menu.

The page layout

The Installed page has three working areas:

1. The package table

The main area is a sortable table with one row per installed package:

  • Version of the package.
  • Size it takes on disk (filled in from the pacman database in the background).
  • Source — official repo, AUR, Flatpak, or npm.
  • Status — Installed, or Update when a newer version is available.
  • Installed date.
  • A checkbox column on the left for selecting packages, and a ⋯ menu on the right of every row.

Sort by any column, resize columns, and use the search box to filter the list down to what you're looking for.

2. The toolbar (navbar)

Buttons above the table act on your current selection:

  • Update Selected — update every checked package that has a newer version.
  • Uninstall Selected — remove every checked package.
  • A selection summary in the middle showing how many rows are checked.
  • Grid View toggle on the far right — switch between the table and a card-based grid layout.

3. The source panel

On the right side, a control panel groups everything about your system at a glance:

  • Sources — pacman, AUR, Flatpak, and npm with a live count next to each; toggle any source on/off to filter the table.
  • System Health — a health score ring plus an at-a-glance list of orphaned packages, .pacnew config files, and outdated packages; click one to act on it (e.g. run the orphan cleanup or jump to Updates).
  • Status — the Updates available toggle: show only packages that have a pending update.
  • Sort by — change how the table is ordered (name, version, size, status, source, date).
  • Quick Actions — Update All and Clean Orphans at one click.
  • Count bar at the bottom — total packages installed and the combined size on disk.

4. The row menu (⋯)

The ⋯ menu on the right edge of each row gives quick single-package actions:

  • Update (only when an update is available)
  • Uninstall
  • View Details
  • Ignore update (only when an update is available) — skip it until you say otherwise
  • View in browser — open the package on its source website
  • Copy name

For AUR packages the menu adds AUR-specific actions: View PKGBUILD, View Changes, and Download snapshot.

5. The detail card

Click any row to open a detail card on the right side of the window. It shows the package's description, version, source, and install details, plus buttons for the actions above. Clicking the card out again closes it.

CLI equivalent

neo list -e # explicitly installed packages
neo list -m # foreign (AUR) packages
neo remove firefox -c # remove + cascade unneeded deps
neo downgrade firefox -l # list cached versions
neo downgrade firefox -p # downgrade + pin to IgnorePkg
neo hold reason firefox explicit # set install reason

Good to know

  • Foreign packages (installed from the AUR) are tracked via pacman -Qm — NeoArch shows them inline with official packages.
  • Downgrading only works with versions still in the pacman cache (/var/cache/pacman/pkg) — run neo downgrade <name> -l first to see what's available.
  • The page state (search text, checked rows, scroll position) is preserved when you switch away and back.
