Hello, I am Miquel Casanovas (Student of ETIS from Catalonia-Spain)
How to forwarding packets in mpls?? I will have use the command "mpls ..."
or I will have use the "iproute and iptables".
I have the follow implementation and the packets no change of label. Now, I
use iproute for forwarding. Is correct??
---------packets in mpls (label 20)------>>> FC3
----------packets in mpls (label 21) ----->>>
Where can find more information of command mpls and examples??
Thank you.

Hi, I'm compiling linux-mpls and I have some trouble : CC net/mpls/af_mpls.o net/mpls/af_mpls.c:40: error: `sock_no_release' undeclared here (not in a function) net/mpls/af_mpls.c:40: error: initializer element is not constant net/mpls/af_mpls.c:40: error: (near initialization for `mpls_sk_ops.release') make[2]: *** [net/mpls/af_mpls.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [net/mpls] Error 2 make: *** [net] Error 2 I saw that somebody already had such an error with 2.6.11. I'm installing linux-mpls on a 2.6.10 because my firm obliged me to work with this kind of kernel. Can you tell me how to update mpls for kernel 2.6.10 ? Moreover, have you an idea on how to test the mpls-linux distribution without copmipiling the kernel ? (make is very long on my computer...) Thanks for answers because it's very important for me and my firm to install mpls. OSPF-TE, ISIS-TE, and the M-BGP label information are part of the standard quagga distribution and were written by someone else. I suggest posting to the quagga mailing list for inquires regaurding them. The only quagga code that is specific to MPLS linux is the MPLS framework (LSR and forwarding info) and the non-working LDP implementation. Hello, I am testing mpls-te with ospf. The ospf is runnig correctly. When I capture the traffic with ethereal, would I have to see the Opaque LSA with the TE information? I can not see it with ethereal, I only see LSA with routing information Thanks for your attention, Jorge Garcia jo...@sa... |

Hello, When working with mpls-linux you should first ask yourself the question 'how would I do this on linux without MPLS?'. The answer, more often then not will also apply to mpls-linux. For example, you're wondering how do you influence or control traffic based on source or dst port when using linux. The answer is iptables. Similaly, if you want to direct traffic on to a LSP based on source or dst port, you can use iptables with some MPLS specific modifications. So first off you will need a MPLS enabled version of iptables, if you are using my RPMs, you can just download the iptables RPM, install it, and your ready to go. Otherwise you will need to compile your own iptables and install it, look at the READMEs in he mpls-linux tar ball for more info. Once you have a MPLS enabled iptables, you can add the following target to any iptables command: -j spec-nh --spec_nh 0x8847:0x2 where 0x8847 tells the spec_nh system to redirect the traffic to MPLS and the 0x2 tells MPLS you want to map traffic to the NHLFE with key 0x2 For example: iptables -A OUTPUT -d 128.104.17.130/32 -j spec_nh --spec_nh 0x8847:0x2 maps all traffic with the dest ip address of 128.104.17.130 to the MPLS NHLFE with key 0x2 You will need to read more on how to map source or dest TCP/UDP ports, but you can learn that from any iptables howto. Good luck! Hello, I am student of ETIS.
I have a FC3, and MPLS-linux installed correctly.
I have the follow graph:
UNDER MPLS:
FC3_A --------------ALL the traffic in MPLS---------> FC3_B
<-----------------------------------------------
How to administrative the traffic for the port??
I want that traffic of port 80, follow one path, and the traffic of port 22
follow other path. (fot example)
--------------Only port 22/TCP in MPLS--------->
<-----------------------------------------------
FC3_A FC3_B
--------------Only port 80/TCP in MPLS--------->
<-----------------------------------------------
I have use the mpls command or quagga package??? I can find util doc???
thank you!!!

Hmmm. Interesting. Are you willing to try and test with the head of line code to see if you get the same results? If you you will need to pull a p4 client for quagga-mpls and ldp-portable. See the mpls-linux.sf.net web page for more info on accessing my personal development repo. If you would like to see the currently level of functionality, which isn't much in the RPM you have, you will have to start it by hand. ldpd uses the same command line as the rest of the quagga daemons. > Thanks for your attention > Jorge Garcia > jo...@sa... > > >=20 >=20 >=20 > > > >> 3. hi all !
Will you please help me , how to provide MPLS support in Linux ?
I am using Fedora Core 2.6.5-1.358. I downloaded the latest files =
under project mpls-linux.
I also downloaded ldp-portable files since I want Linux kernel to support f=
or Tag distribution.
The following tar files I am am trying to install in Fedora Core 2 (2.6.=
5-1.335).
I downloaded with src code since I need to know the MPLS code:
1. mpls-linux-1.946a.tar.bz2
2. iproute2-2.6.9-3.tar.bz2
3. iptables-1.2.11-3.1.FC3.tar.bz2
4. quagga-0.98.3.tar
I really donot know how to go to build MPLS enabled Linux Kernel ?
I am a naive in this field. Will you please suggest how to go for it ? A=
lso , have I downloaded the correct versions of the Tar file for Fedora C=
ore 2 .

Hi, I`m going to graduate in engineering at Federico II of Naples. I`m = working on a project for my graduation thesis concerning mpls-linux. I`= d like to know if within the last version of mpls-linux (1.946) there is = a routine which allows an association among a FEC and several NHLFE acc= es keys, when several route meet the request for QoS concerning a FEC s= pecification. I have already looked at the mailing list, but it doesn't s= eem to me to have found information concerning such problem. I wold be = very pleased to be in contact with the person who is working with that,= whether this funtionally isn`t already active, but in the course of the = realization. Thank you a lot. =0A=0A=0A=0A_______________________= _____________________________________=0ANavighi a 4 MEGA e i primi 3 mesi= sono GRATIS. =0AScegli Libero Adsl Flat senza limiti su http://www.liber= o.it=0A |

Hello! My name is Rosca Florin and I'm doing my final project in MPLS networks as I'm in my final year at Computer Science and Automatics. I have some problems with installing and working with quagga-mpls and I need your help, please! I'm newbie in Linux , so please be patients! I'm using Fedora Core 3. I've configured Linux kernel 2.6.9 mpls-enabled and installed from the http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpls-linux the folowing programs: 1. mpls-linux-1.946a.tar.bz2 2. iptables-1.2.11-3.1.FC3mpls1_946.i386.rpm 3. iproute-2.6.9-3mpls1_946.i386.rpm 4. ppp-2.4.2-6.4.FC3mpls1_946.i386.rpm 5. quagga-0.97.3-1.FC3mpls1_946b.i386.rpm Questions: 1.If I have a mpls enabled kernel do I still need to install kernel-2.6.9-1.6_FC2mpls_1_946a.i686.rpm 2.If I installed quagga-0.97.3-1.FC3mpls1_946b.i386.rpm, do I need ldp-portable? I did the folowing:I got the sources of quagga-0.97.3-1.FC3, patched them with quagga-0.97.3-mpls.patch, I changed the path to point to my ldp-potable distribution. Then I compiled them-no error- but after "make" I got some errors like unreferenced variable...etc. How do I get it working? 3. After installing quagga-0.97.3-1.FC3mpls1_946b.i386.rpm, when I type " ldpd -d" with the default configuration file, it says "unknown command" " mlps ip " To connect to the ldpd daemon via telnet what port do I use, or how do I do it to use the command line in ldp? Thanks a lot! Florin __________________________________ Yahoo! Messenger Show us what our next emoticon should look like. Join the fun. http://www.advision.webevents.yahoo.com/emoticontest |

Hi, I would like to install mpls for linux in order to replace an ingress PE router. So, i'm wondering if I only must install the patch for the linux kernel or if I also have to install the LDP distribution protocol ? Another question : what are the differences between the implementation of mpls LDP for quagga and the patch of mpls-linux for quagga ? I don't see the differences between theses two points... In my case, what of these two points must I install ? Thanks a lot for a new in mpls-linux ;) I think I will have another questions later ;) bye ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |

Hello james Thank you for the information I like to ask more about that If I want to make a tunnel using mpls If I'm using ospf with zebra to generate my routing, what network address= =20 that I must enter in router ospf command. Is it I must enter network must for new tunnel IP address or network addres= s=20 for int that connected to the router If referring to your mail, it show that tunnel doesn't required any ip=20 address, but when I'm refering to your note in MPLS-Linux at Source Fodge= =20 web site, it say different On Apr 6, 2005 8:12 AM, James R.
