version 6.0 has been decleared released, but if I try to download the compiled binaries (the binaries, not the posted links to some archive files) I get the same old version with gcc 8.1.0 (already available since some months) which can't include <filesystem> without errors. Are you about to update also the binaries ? Or from now on one has to build the distribution and compiler ? Thanks, Marco</filesystem>

The release only covers mingw-w64 itself, CRT and win32 headers etc, it does not cover GCC or binutils. The toolchain providers will update their releases soon.

The filesystem header is part of GCC.

Jonathan, I'm glad to see that the toolchain providers will update their releases "soon". Now, to mention the Smiths, "how soon is now ?" : Gcc 8.1 is out since 2018-05-02; and Gcc 8.2 is out since 2018-07-26. Now it's 2018-09-29 and currently Gcc is 8.1 is the most recent compiler version available from mingw-w64 and has still this bug unfixed. Is it possible to get at least an estimate of when Gcc 8.2 or at least Gcc 8.1 with the bug fixed will be available ? Once mingw-w64 released its compilers one or two months after the Gcc release date.

We don't dictate toolchain release schedules, you can always ask the providers themselves.

Ok. I usually install mingw-w64 via the installer mingw-w64-install.exe available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/ . On this same link I usually check if a new compiler version has become available (but it's not clear if the same compiler has been re-released) So, who should I ask to, or on what other url should I check ? Is there a list of these toolchain providers ? Thanks, Marco

Hi, I am very interested in this question and the answer as well. I would definitely like to use GCC 8.2 soon. crillion asked about a month ago who he could ask about toolchain release schedules. Did you find out, crillion? Does anyone know? If the problem is resources/time, I'd be happy to help out if needed. I also just go to https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/ a look for new releases there (it is still at 8.1).

    Many thanks for any info!

Found some more details here: https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw-w64/discussion/723797/thread/ea9a5b00fb/#945a.
I'll repeat here what I said in that thread, in case someone who has some info sees this one only:

I really think the toolchains are incredibly useful. Obviously the toolchain provider(s) are either overloaded or just not able or willing anymore for some reason. MANY thanks to those who did this up until now.
If anyone knows where I could get detailed instructions and/or scripts for building the toolchain, I would certainly offer to learn how to do this and help with releasing toolchains. I am assuming someone has a relatively automated way of compiling GCC and binutils and the other programs.
If I can get such info/scripts and am able to build everything, I would happily commit to having a toolchain release out within 2 weeks of any release of mingw-w64 itself (ie the runtime, headers, and such).
Please, if anyone has info, let me know.
