Hi, I just downloaded the "Complete Root Environment Snapshot", specifically mingw-w64-bin_x86_64-mingw32_20071203.tar.bz2, unpacked it, tried to compile a hello program and failed. The sourceforge page for the project does not appear to have any starter guidelines, so I have some very basic questions. Please indulge me. 1) If I have a plain, bare WinXP64 system, is this all I need? Or are there more packages that I need to download? 2) Is it sufficient to simply unpack the archive into any directory and add %MYDIR%\root-x86_64-pc-mingw32\bin to the PATH variable? What else needs to be done? The steps above are essentially what I did. When I try: gcc hello.c -o hello.exe I get: e:/install/mingw/64b/root-x86_64-pc-mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-mingw32/4.3.0/../../../../x86_64-pc-mingw32/bin/ld.exe: crt2.o: No such file: No such file or directory collect2: ld returned 1 exit status It appears to fail while trying to link the executable. If I do: gcc -c hello.c This does successfully create a hello.o. Using nm to check hello.o, I do see a symbol defined for _main and an undefined symbol _puts (along with some other things), so it appears to have made the object file. Any help is appreciated. |
