Dear Friends:
I have just installed MikTex 2.5 (late, yes I know!). Putting the line
[TeX]
Editor="C:\Program Files\WinEdt Team\WinEdt\winedt.exe"
"[Open('%f');SelPar(%l,7)]"
in a \localtexmf\miktex\config\miktex.ini file used to result in miktex
calling winedt, instead of notepad, when you hit e during compilation.
This no longer appears to work. Can anyone help? ......Edgar

This sort of thing is now done in format-specific .ini files (you can
have a latex-aware editor and a context-aware editor). I'm not near a
WIndows machine, but I think if you look in <C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.5\miktex\config> for .ini
files you
will find things like pdflatex.ini.
For each format you use (I assume one will be created if needed), run
C:> initexmf --edit-config-file=miktex\config\pdfetex.ini
and try adding the above Editor=.. line

Use the option menu of YAP to add the editor.

Dear users, Something strange happened when I updated PDFLaTeX today. PDFLaTeX ran smoothly last days, but today I got a puzzling error report. This is the one: Underfull \vbox (badness 10000) has occurred while \output is active [23] [24 <afbeelding1-9.png (PNG copy)>] [25]pdflatex.EXE: Windows API error 123: De syntaxis van de bestandsnaam, mapnaam of texify: pdflatex failed for some reason (see log file). There seems to be a API error, but I checked the .png file which has to be loaded. I can't see any problems. What's the problem? API is the fundamental communication with the Windows system, I think. Thanks, Wilfred |

You mean that miktex calls winedt when you enter "e" when it finds an
error in your file? .............Edgar
