Hello, I'm new to MikTeX. I have been Texmaker to create a document in LaTex. Installing packages has been straightforward until two days ago. I have received a message: "A connection to api2.miktex.org could not be established". My ISP advised - "This means you can't reach or connect to their server for some reason. It does respond to a ping, so it's running at least." I'm not sure what to do next, in the log files below there is a message: "If you are behind a proxy: make sure that the proxy is configured for MiKTeX". I would appreciate advice on how to proceed. Previously I could select from a range of mirror sites, but now I only see a the random selection option. As far as I know there have been no changes to my computer (windows 10). Solved part of the problem -- explicit path to SumatraPDF.exe was incorrect in the way I set it up. So, I *can* manually point WinEdt 11.1 at Sumatra, but still don't know why the 'alternative viewer buttons' are all greyed out (amongst other things...). > > > Moreover, if I manually edit the path to the executable ("%H:\Program > Files\SumatraPDF\SumatraPDF.exe"), then Sumatra doesn't start as it > should. Hi guys, I have a question. I could not get a package from the MikTeX repo for it does not seem to be working. Therefore I have got that package from CTAN, and put in the proper place. I wanted to update the file name database but the command line tool could not start. How should it be done? I am using MikTeX 2.9 Do you have any hint or idea? Thanks in advance. -- Urbán Gábor Linux is like a wigwam: no Gates, no Windows and an Apache inside. |

Try to call dvips with the option -landscaperotate dvips -landscaperotate file Newer version of dvips no longer rotate the media box if landscape is used. (See e.g. https://tug.org/pipermail/tex-live/2021-July/047291.html and the discussion in the dvips manual) That means to get a landscape page one must setup the page size correctly with landscape values but powerdot still relies on the now deprecated rotation from dvips. -- Ulrike Fischer http://www.troubleshooting-tex.de/ |

Hello In https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/win32/miktex/setup/windows-x64 you'll find setup-4.2-x64.exe which is the full installer (64 bits). In https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/win32/miktex/setup/windows-x86 you'll find setup-4.2.exe which is the full installer (32 bits). Best regards. François Le 04/08/2021 à 13:38, Igor Ya. Hello, I'm thinking about to install new MiKTeX version (my current is 2.9). However, the question arises: CTAN contains earlier version than MiKTeX.org tells about. Previously I downloaded the latest one from CTAN and installed it locally, now the only way is to install basic version and the update to the full one? Thanks in advance |

The latest files from the FTP server FU Berlin did not change that console problem. Ralf |

I have just updated MikTeX x64 to the latest version. Now the console application does not open nor appear in the task manager when I try to open it. That console version out of the backup folder with its MiKTeX210600-xxx.dll files from yesterday starts without any problems and seems to work properly. Is it a bug or might I have done something wrong during the update? Ralf |

I was not sure whether it was a bug or my fault. Thank you, that you confirmed the problem and opened the issue.
