Hey all. Just a quick note on the latest MC4J release. I believe the build should be all straightened out after changes to the netbeans platform version 4.0, but there are a few things to note. HEAD now requires the nb platform 4.0 beta 2 release. Also, a slight change when you setup your build is that you'll need to pull the contents of the platform4 directory up a level. They rearranged the nb directory structure and I haven't completed the build fixes to make it work out of the box. I'll update the build and the build document as soon as I get a chance. In the meantime, let me know if anyone has problems. Also, for now, the HTML dashboard view is undocumented, though there are two examples if anyone is brave enough to try. Its still somewhat of a test, so let me know what you think. -- Greg Hinkle |

Yea, there are a couple of week points in that code in the beta 5 release. I've cleaned most of them up so as soon as I can get around to the next release we should be good. Most of the problems are related to problems finding custom classes and can often be worked around by adding app server and application classes to the connection classpath in MC4J. (Though this doesn't fix all problems) Full open and model mbean support is coming... but my workload is slowing me down right now. Hey all, I get the following error when I try to use a Model MBean: "Unable to retrieve MBean Info for [Logger:type=ModelSample]" when opening the MBean to show the attributes/operations. I use MC4J 1.2 beta 5 and MX4J 2.0.1 over JSR160. The same example works absolutely fine with SUN's RI and its HTML-Adaptor. Must there something be adjusted with the MX4J environment, or is this simply a problem of the current MC4J version? Thanx again for any clues! -- GMX ProMail mit bestem Virenschutz http://www.gmx.net/de/go/mail +++ Empfehlung der Redaktion +++ Internet Professionell 10/04 +++ |

Hey all, I use MC4J 2.0.1 over JSR160 with MX4J 1.2 beta 5 and almost every second time when I want to connect to the JMXConnectorServer I get a Rmi.NoSuchObjectException. After shutting down MC4J and restarting MX4J one or two times I get the connection again. The only thing I change in MC4J is the Server URL which is always a different JMXServiceURL each time i restart the MX4J server. In the code: JMXServiceURL address = new JMXServiceURL("service:jmx:rmi://"); I get from the server which changes each time restarting the server: RMIConnectorServer started at: service:jmx:rmi://kstblb60/stub/rO0ABXNyAC5qYXZheC5tYW5hZ2VtZW50LnJlbW90ZS5ybWkuUk1JU2VydmVySW1wbF9TdHViAAAAAAAAAAICAAB4cgAaamF2YS5ybWkuc2VydmVyLlJlbW90ZVN0dWLp/tzJi+FlGgIAAHhyABxqYXZhLnJtaS5zZXJ2ZXIuUmVtb3RlT2JqZWN002G0kQxhMx4DAAB4cHc5AAtVbmljYXN0UmVmMgAADjE0MS43My4xMzAuMTE5AAAG+gAAAAAAAAAAAPyZRAAAAP8qi0vsgAAAeA== Where's the problem of this confusing behaviour? Hey Greg, the properties window looks like that: Class name: int Editable: checked, but grey Level(attribute name): the integer number, black, but no button to change value After a while the following exception appears in the Level-row: "Arguement to IntEditor.setValue() must be Integer, but was java.lang.String (=unknown type)" But in the interface and implementation the attribute and its getter/setter methods are defined as int. I believe this used to work, so if it doesn't its a bug. What behavior are you seeing? Do you get an exception, or are you just unable to edit the field in the GUI? Hey all, i implemented a Dynamic MBean, that changes its interface (attributes and operations) when invoking a special operation of this MBean. Unfortunately i had to disconnect and reconnect over JMXConnector (MX4J Implementation 2.0.1) to see the changed attributes and operations of the Dynamic MBean. Is this a problem/limitation of MC4J 1.2 beta 5 or should it show the differences after refreshing the Dynamic MBean in MC4J? Thanx a lot! I've always done it in code I suppose, but that really should be supported. Please submit a feature request (and feel free to contribute an implementation if you like). Hey all, is there no possibility to creat new MBeans through MC4J like it can be done with the the HTML-Adaptor front end of SUN's RI? When not, how do you generally create new MBeans without directly instantiating new MBeans in the code? Thanx a lot! Came across your product on SourceForge and think it has merit beyond its current usage. If you were to consider integrating it into one of the open source portals such as Liferay (http://www.liferay.com) it would help it reach a wider audience. One step further would not to stop at integration but to see it packaged along with it...
