I put them both in there to give users a choice=20 between the two, but the two can never coexist. Just leave out=20 sendmail (and sendmail-cf) or leave out postfix (and=20 postfix-sample). I've opened up port 873 for rsync access to skarpsey.dyndns.org. =20 "rsync -rlz rsync://skarpsey.dyndns.org/ftp /local/ftp/mirror"=20 will copy everything from the FTP archive to /local/ftp/mirror=20 on your system. Sorry about the one big fat list...I've attached a script that
may help you along with that. It's capable of taking a
directory full of RPMs and generating a list of dependencies
between those RPMs. It's 99% effective, which may be good
enough for a quick job. Its main limitations are that it won't
actually check version numbers of provided symbols, and it
prefers to leave out dependencies that rpm sticks in there just
for the hell of it--dependencies like rpmlib(blah, blah).
Instructions for use:
Take all the RPMs in the big fat list and place them in a single
directory. There should be nothing else in this directory, not
even child directories.
Run "./gendlist.sh [rpm-dir] > rpm-dep-list".
You should now have a depmod-style listing of RPM dependencies.
Just to get you started, I've attached an example list of
dependencies. I generated it using the following commands:
mkdir RPMS
cp /mnt/smb/Midgard/ftp/LATEST/RPMS/{i486,noarch}/* RPMS/
=2E/gendlist.sh RPMS > rpm-dep-list.example

Just an idea. Well, I've always been of the opinion that the first "stable"=20 release of something should be called 1.0 (if it's been through=20 a lot of testers) or 0.1 (if it's just been through a little=20 ten-person cadre like us for testing). I think we should go through the following roadmap: 1) Get a working install procedure going, with a working set of=20 packages. It should be a fairly fast and easy process to make=20 the install procedure work with a different set of packages. 2) Get this initial set of packages+install procedure made into a=20 bootable ISO and burned to CD (also, provide boot floppies for=20 those of us who can't boot/use a CD). Pass it around to our=20 friends, to the local LUGs, etc. for testing and suggestions. A=20 lot of people will probably suggest to us different ways of=20 doing things, and more/different apps to use. 3) Set up a package freeze deadline. After this point, no new=20 packages will be added (though packages can have their versions=20 updated and be revised). 4) Set up a version freeze deadline. After this point, no=20 packages will have their versions updated except to correct=20 serious bugs, add hardware support, or plug security holes. =20 Current versions can be revised, however, and patches can be=20 added. Changing the way things are done at this point is=20 strongly discouraged. 5) Set a release date. At this point, the current distro=20 revision will have a version assigned, and it will be given its=20 own directory on inceptionos.org which should remain largely=20 unchanged. It will be committed to an ISO, and "official"=20 CD/disk label images should probably be made available. Currently no dates are set, because I don't have a very clear=20 idea how soon we can get stuff finished up. Also, regarding LILO...I can probably get some packages committed=20 for that. I used to use it myself, before I tried grub. I=20 agree, the user should have a choice. --=20 Kelledin "If a server crashes in a server farm and no one pings it, does=20 it still cost four figures to fix?" |

Also you said something about a redhat like install system.. we can later switch to a GUI System.. yes shity with graphics, and buttons and mouse and all this bullshit.
