I agree with Craig on all points. Slate 19.3 as a 1.0 RC1 and let folks bash it. Just releasing a '1.0 RC' product may get some users of older versions to upgrade and expose bugs. An idea: - RC1 (really 19.3) - RC2 (bug fixes and code clean - more testing with PHP 5? ) - RC3 (if required, same as above) - 1.0 and with a few glasses of champagne under fireworks in the park, Mantis 1.0 is upon us! oh wait, the bubble burst years ago. How 'bout a 6 pack of Bud... Note that with Victor working on allowing the user to configure the fields in the View Issues page, a RC1 may not be a bad idea to really bash the code before a release is named 1.0. As for the config file in the DB, I would love to see this feature, but agree (again) with Craig - let that be a part of 1.X or something. Just my 3 cents Great project - saved us/me LOTS of time! I have had almost no problems at all with my upgrades but I note on the lists there have been some with some fairly obvious issues. Of course, theres always that last bug you find 3 hours having made the release that you wont catch. > Also, I think a 'stable' release should have a way to set all options > through the user interface instead of having to edit an ini file. Yes, that'd be nice, but thats got nothing to do with a stable release. It would be a nice addition if the current code was not released as a 1.0. > Finally, the entry about switching to Smarty in the roadmap seems like > a crucial step before mantis can be considered 'mature', imo. Honestly, never had a major problem with Mantis and its made a world of difference for us. Make the Smarty release a 2.0 release. Editing the pages isnt that easy as it is, but for the normal install thats less important? Maybe jumping to 0.94 from 0.193 might be a nice way to go, get a few minor update releases out the door in the process from 0.94 to 1.0 just to catch those issues (bugs, not requests) that will come up. If theres nothing major after you get to 0.95 or 0.96, go for a 1.0.
