Hi there, I'm translating MantisBT to basque and realized at Github that generated language file is stored as strings_eu.txt instead of the standar strings_language.txt used for other languages. I think this may be a bit anoying for future basque translation users as the language selector would contain an undescriptive "eu" instead of "basque". So, is it possible to change the strings_eu.txt filename to strings_basque.txt? I didn't find any option for this on translatewiki.net so I guess is a project issue... Greetings, Today I fixed a bug in MantisBT [1] that caused dynamic parameters to be replaced in the wrong sequence for Timeline events. The issue was caused by a missing '$' sign in the sprintf parameter format (e.g. '%1s' instead of '%1$s') (see the commit on Github [2] for full details on the change). When updating the translations, please make sure to add the missing '$' sign after the parameter's number, for all s_timeline_* language strings . Thanks in advance Damien Regad MantisBT Developer [1] https://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=19288 [2] https://github.com/mantisbt/mantisbt/commit/ad6e75e4 |

Siebrand: I have an account at TranslateWiki, and, in fact, was VegaDark who made the mess. I´ve already left a note (past week) on the user page, without response (I´m "Bithunter" at TranslateWiki). Hi Jorge, Thank you for your feedback. Mantis BT is translated using crowd sourcing by volunteers at translatewiki.net. The past 3 months, translations for Mantis BT in Spanish have mostly been made by a user called VegaDark. See https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&limit=250&namespace=1210&days=100&translations=only&trailer=%2Fes Sometimes it is needed to engage with other users to establish some common ground. This happened before, but I want to reiterate that something must be done. There are translators who just want to improve your stats and generate problems. They do not know how the translation was handled previously and use different terms or word for word translations are performed regardless the meaning of the sentence. I think they even used Mantis. I want to help with translations but I do not want to fix what was already translated and others change for the worse. How should we handle this? I´m talking about Spanish translation. I don't know about others. MantisBT currently supports Mysql and has support for other database engines. The support for other databases is known to be problematic. Having implemented the current database layer into Mantis 10 years ago, I'm currently working on replacing the current layer. If you are interested in using Mantis with non-mysql databases - for example, Oracle, PGSQL or MSSQL, and would be willing to help out testing the new database layer, please drop me an email at pa...@ma... In the meantime, I'd advise running Mantis with Mysql Only to avoid issues. Thanks Paul |

First of all we encourage dialog. So please get in contact with the other translator on his or her talk page on translatewiki.net and try to agree on a common vocabulary. That's not only helpful for MantisBT, but for all software translations. Please remember that we do not believe in ownership, nor in the right solution the first time. Quality increases in iterations. Please document the agreed upon vocabulary and link it from [[Portal:Es]] to make it easier to have the same discussion with someone else in the future. Use [[Support]] on translatewiki.net for platform specific questions, if you can. That keeps things as close to the translators as possible. I'm a user of TranslateWiki, and I need to know how to deal with users doing wrong translations. Microsoft, Adobe, and others uses "mover" when translating "move" from English to Spanish. I've also done that with Mantis Spanish translation. But there is a user who changed my translations to "trasladar" (a Spanish word which es more associated with people moving from a place to another). Should I just undo those translations? Or what should I do to keep quality of Mantis Spanish translation? Hi Jorge The style depends on your preference and also on your language. Title Case is used in some software programs, but not in all in English. In Dutch, for example, its use is rare. I do not know what it is like in Spanish. As a native Dutch speaker, I would have made the same correction for Dutch. The casing rules are in no way mandatory, but usability experiences suggest that one style should be used consistently. Hope this was helpful, even though not conclusive :). -- Siebrand Mazeland M: +31 6 50 69 1239 Skype: siebrand On 8 mrt. 2012, at 16:13, Jorge Andrés Brugger <li...@da...> wrote: > I´m a contributor for spanish translation (at translatewiki.net). > > I´ve translated (as an example) : > > $s_copy_users = 'Copy Users'; > to > $s_copy_users = 'Copiar Usuarios'; > > Somebody changed that (Mantis 1.2.9) to > $s_copy_users = 'Copiar usuarios'; > > My question is: there is a english-only style on which the case of all > words is fine? I´m a contributor for spanish translation (at translatewiki.net). I´ve translated (as an example) : $s_copy_users = 'Copy Users'; to $s_copy_users = 'Copiar Usuarios'; Somebody changed that (Mantis 1.2.9) to $s_copy_users = 'Copiar usuarios'; My question is: there is a english-only style on which the case of all words is fine? Or should be used this way on all languages as a way to emphasize the phrase? Regards! |

There is another string for the same field: $s_timestamp (title header of the list of versions when editing a project at manage_proj_edit_page.php). The same field is used with $s_released in changelog, and with $s_scheduled_release at roadmap. Maybe should be translated the same as "timestamp" at manage_proj_ver_edit_page.php? Thanks Roland. I think I am one of those who did it the wrong way (German translation) This date is some kind of timestamp (meant as the date where a version is released) but at the same time this seems to be the date which is used for the ordering of the versions in changelog (is this the reason why there is the word "order"?) Maybe the English should be: "Releasedate" with the additional information "affects ordering of changelog" but don't really now regards Roland ----- original Nachricht -------- Betreff: [mantisbt-lang] Help with context use of $s_date_order Gesendet: Do, 25.
