We have implemented time tracking in our version of mantis - actually using the bugnote table as the location for the field. It is working quite well. We chose the bugnote table since a lot of our projects/issues are touched by multiple people. It has a spot for hours and the task (research, coding, etc) - allows all users who have access to bug notes - in our case reporters and up the ability to enter their time and we just sum up the total by issue as well as by user.
