Hi folks :-) debian testing with kernel 2.6.27.9 and last stable version of ndiswrapper (1.53). Macbook 4.1 with wireless so: Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03) I correctly compiled ndiswrapper and I using win driver bcmwl5.inf: the wifi network works but only 700Kb/s in download :-/ using other wifi ethernet the network speed is almost 2,0Mb/s, so access point is ok. There's a problem with my linux client but I'd like how probe it. Any idea? Thanks! Pol |

There is a bug open on bugzilla related to this : http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11211 But I've no idea if it's still not working, or whether it appliets to the 4.1 as well. If you do test it please report back, since I'm kinda interested on that as well :) --lf On Mon, Jan 5, 2009 at 9:40 AM, Pol Hallen <ma...@fu...> wrote: > Hi folks :-) > > I found the cable (original apple) to connect my macbook to tv. > > Before of buy this cable, I need know if there's any problem to connect the > macbook on tv using linux. > > Someone has already done? > Thanks > > Pol > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > _______________________________________________ > Mactel-linux-users mailing list > Mac...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mactel-linux-users > -- " Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Yes, I Can see "wmaster0", "wlan0" and a strange "pam0" interfaces. The strange thing is that with a clean installation or with a live-CD, wlan0 shows the available networks and can connect to them, but after having installed madwifi, and then uninstalled it (or blacklisted the ath_pci module), the wlan0 interface find any network. And yes, all the interfaces are up (thank you very much, k11stan). My macbook version is (2,1), and I have never used the bcmxx module, no broadcom chips are present in this version. Hello, Is it possible to boot Linux from a USB drive without modifying the Mac? I installed Ubuntu on a USB drive, but the drive does not come up as a boot option. All the information I can find on the web is for booting from various boot managers on the startup drive. Is this really the only way? Thanks, Peter PS: Sorry if this is a dupe. I previously sent it from the wrong address. |

For example, if I execute: iwlist wlan0 scan No networks are found, although there is an AP with WEP encryption near the computer. Moreover, I'm using wicd as my network manager. On the other side, if I test a Kubuntu Intrepid live-CD, wifi works well with ath9k. I think that the problem is that the madwifi installation has removed or replaced some key modules of ath9k, but is strange, because the problem remains after booting with different kernels. Hi everybody, I have a macbook (2,1) with Kubuntu Intrepid x86_64 installed. Since wireless works out of the box with ath9k, I've installed the madwifi driver (trunk r3878) because of better performance and network detection. The problem is that if I want to go back to ath9k, no networks are found and I'm unable to connect to anyone. What I did is to reinstall the linux-generic package (at the moment 2.6.27-11-generic). The wmaster0 and wlan0 interfaces are sucesfully created, but they don't work. No special dmesg messages are shown. What can I do to recover wireless with ath9k? Thank you very much for your help, Tomas |

If so, did you forget something when configuring v4l? Hello List, I am installing (Debian Lenny) Linux on my brand new Aluminium MacBook. fortunately enough the wired ethernet and the wireless ethernet work great separately (even if the wired works at slow speed). Now I would like to make them work together: apparently there is no canonical way to do so. I have set up a bridge machinery, but I am not so sure that it is a good idea as wireless stuff are not ready for bridge (see Debian README). My first thought was to replicate what Mac OS does. But on Mac OS ifconfig gives something that I can not decipher: can anyone give some hint to understand it ? or better, give an good alternative to my bridge machinery ? Thanks in advance, Jerome -- Jerome BENOIT jgmbenoit_at_mailsnare_dot_net |

I was happily using Ubuntu 8.04 with the mactel patches and latest pommed for quite some time without any issues. The keyboard backlight was working as expected, as was the LCD backlight and volume keys. In short, all the Fn keys were working as expected. My setup at that time was using a patched 2.6.25 kernel using a fix as noted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/207127/comments/26 I now had to install Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) because of a hard drive failure and new hardware and have been struggling to get everything working again. With the default installation of Ubuntu 8.10, booting into GNOME, everything works! But, I personally don't use GNOME, and rather have used svn Enlightenment DR17 windowmanager and Entrance as the login manager. I don't use GNOME at all, but keep everything installed because there are so many packages that are dependent on it. Apparently, to get everything working I need to have gnome-power-manager and gnome-settings-daemon loaded. I also need to have the applesmc and mbp_nvidia_bl modules loaded. Having the modules load at boot is not a big deal, but I would rather not have to be tied to gnome-appearance-daemon or gnome-power-manager if at all possible. Therefore, I tried to install pommed (latest). This causes the automatic backlight to work properly, but the Fn keys don't do anything at all. xev gives me keysyms for all the function keys, but pommed/gpomme does not recognize it. Is there any way to have keyboard backlight, LCD backlight, volume and eject keys working without having to load gnome-power-manager (controls the backlights) or gnome-settings-daemon (controls the volume and eject)? Thank you. -- Never look up when dragons fly overhead. |
