It's an as yet unsolved problem with the kernel i believe. The =20 livecd won't work because of its use of textmode.efi. If you combine =20= it with rEFIt you can get it to load, but the kernel still hangs. -barry On 3 Mar 2006, at 2:53 pm, Miguel Filipe wrote: > Hi! > Have you tried the new liveCD from mactel-linux ? > http://www.mactel-linux.org/wiki/HOWTO , last entry of the howto. =20 > Check it out! > > On 3/3/06, Alessio <no...@us...> wrote: >> Hi, >> I'm trying to install, ehm ehm run, linux on my iMac intel 20" 1GB =20= >> ram. >> But the boot freeze after loading initrd image. >> I've also tryed the test-drive provided by osxbooc.com but doesn't >> boot (only a white screen). >> >> Reading their forum ( http://osxbook.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3D14 = ) >> I've noticed that none with more then 512MB of ram can boot linux. >> >> best wishes, >> Alessio >> -- >> JID: no...@ja... >> >> "Il sapere umano appartiene al mondo" >> --Skullbox, Synapse >> > > > -- > Miguel Sousa Filipe > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting =20 > language > that extends applications into web and mobile media. Works on my standard-issue 17" iMac. Actually, I'm impressed by the speed of unaccellerated graphics in X. A lot of apps in the live system don't work, but I guess that's not your fault. Hi all, I found in this blog: http://www.pragmat.org/blog/?p=3D16 information about how to have wireless support on linux on intel iMacs, In the last paragraph: " Update: I do have the Broadcom working with ndiswrapper now. Try the Broadcom 802.11a/b/g drivers supplied by Hewlett-Packard for the tc4200 tablet PC. They work just fine, even with WPA-PSK. " I'm mailing this just to propagate information :D best regards, -- Miguel Sousa Filipe |
