one of the features I'm probably missing most from lpub is the ability to zoom in to a particular part of the model in order to keep adding bricks just to this part. This would come very handy for large models where the clarity of the instructions could be greatly increased by focusing just on the important small part of the already large assembly.
The way I imagine it could work is something akin to ROTSTEPs. In 3DViever tab one would zoom the model and then click "Apply ZOOMSTEP" in a similar manner to current ROTSTEP.
Is anything like this planned?

Perhaps I should have been more specific and mentioned that I want to zoom not just to center (which seems to be currently the only way) but to specfic region, ideally simply selected by mouse click.

Also from the linked github ticket I deduce that I can partially achieve what I want by first dragging and dropping the assembly image off the page, so that the region I'm interested in is in the center of the page, then zooming as required (by setting camera distance) and then moving the resulting (cropped) image so that it aligns with the page. There are however several problems with this:
It's obviously quite laborious and error prone. Moreover you have to do that for every step separately.
For some reason the final alignment of the zoomed image doesn't work well. The image ends up slightly to the left of the desired place.
It doesn't work for multi-step pages, namely the first part of moving the image off the page. Or at least I don't how to do that.
What was perhaps my idea was that the flow could be similar to how you set ROTSTEPs in the 3DViewer window. First you use the Rotate button and the you click Apply ROTSTEP. This meta command has effect on all following steps (which is usually what you want, e.g. when adding bricks to the bottom of the model). Similarly I could imagine that one would click Zoom Region (the funcionality is already there!) and then click Apply ZOOMSTEP (is not there).
I hope that I expressed myself more cleraly now. Does this make sense to you?

Hello David. Yes this enhancement is in the pipeline. See GitHub ticket #274 for what is currently available to support this behaviour.
Cheers,

I understand the behaviour you are looking for and, as I said, it is in the pipeline to be implemented.
Cheers,

Yes it does. Thank you.
Cheers,
Take a look at GitHub ticket #327.
