I sometimes noticed some issues w/ 3G directly (EDGE: fine). In both cases, rebooting the device fixed it, sometimes only waiting was necessary, I presume that it's about timeouting the currently open connections? Anyway, make sure that all incoming and sending configs have both "Auto" and "Use wifi..", as suggested by Bruce. Regards, -- wwp |

Thanks Raimund, I did look through the tickets before posting. Didn't know what threads were, but I'm getting an idea now. The only thing I would hate to lose by going back to 2.0.0.291 is my "Mark as unread" feature. I use that a good bit. Guess I've got a decision to make. Does anybody know how I could get a copy of the Gmail app? I might just go back to that for my gmail, even though it's a pretty lame app, so I can keep LogicMail 2.1 for my POP account. I'm not sure how it will impact LogicMail's behaviour, though. Make a backup first! My 2 cents.. Regards, -- wwp |

Hi, Been using LogicMail with my POP account for a good while now, works great. Decided to get rid of the Google Gmail app and add my gmail (IMAP) to LogicMail, i.e. use LogicMail for both accounts. Set it up, no problem but got some sort of error when I sent a test email from the gmail account. It went through though, so didn't think much about it. Anyway, exited LogicMail and when I went to open it back up, it sat at the splash screen and would go no further. Rebooted and no change. Ended up having to uninstall and reinstall. Got it back to working with my POP account. (and of course, Google discontinued the Gmail app for BB, which I didn't know about when I uninstalled thatt, so now I have no access to my gmail account from the BB) I also know gmail has been a bit of a pain for you. Any ideas? BB 8320, OS 4.5, LogicMail 2.1.0.77 Thanks, Mike |

I'd like to contribute as I see there is stuff to do, I use to do that for some other open source and free pieces of software (I'm part of the dev team of Claws Mail) but I'm lacking spare time, and also java experience and maybe no real taste for it. Maybe I'll see how I can deploy a SDK though, need to check how hard is it but really not sure I can afford it. Not counting translators, are you alone designing and developing LogicMail? Yes, as you've no doubt discovered, many of the hotkeys and message list interactions are modeled on the BB email app. (Took reading a few too many BB user manuals to localize them correctly.) > Is anybody watching this mailing list, BTW? Hi there, I'm struggling with the email deletion feature.. Logicmail 2.1.0.77 is configured here to hide deleted emails. When I delete some messages, they will be re-downloaded and shown as unread by any further account refreshing. When I don't hide deleted emails, I'll get no problem, deleted emails are there, marked as deleted and won't get marked as unread. If I delete emails locally (good to see that it doesn't remove from server), it's to get rid of them, what "hide" does well. But it's not to get them marked as unread later when sync' w/ server again. Or is there something I've missed? Regards, -- wwp |

Hello there, using 2.1.0.77 beta, I noticed once or twice that some account status were stalled. Entering the inbox of *some* of my accounts (I only have POP3 accounts) where showing nothing in status bar, no activity. The account folder was showing the little red cross symbol, and no wait to update the folder contents. Rebooting the device and it's fixed. I think it appeared once when I made use of the 3G link for email retrieval, whereas all my accounts were configured to use Wifi only (I has not the possibility to my phone line for Internet). Now I can use 3G *and* Wifi, this is why I did some attempts w/ both link access, now I've set all accounts to use the "default" network access. I'm not sure if that was the reason, because I think I got an account stalled again later, while using Wifi only. Anyone reproduced that? I'd like to know what's the difference between "auto" and "default" connection methods in the account advanced prefs. Auto means take whatever is possible, and prefer Wifi (would make sense to me)? And what is the default then? Regards, -- wwp |

I know this is an old post, but I still wanted to follow up. In my usage, gmail works well for quickly archiving email (eg my personal email), but Logicmail provides good access to the "up to the second" email updates (my work google apps account) by using IMAP IDLE, and not having to subscribe to the Blackberry's push email service to get similar results. On 10/7/11, Dave Warren <li...@hi...> wrote: > Google's IMAP server is "different" > > In terms of Sent messages, simply configure your client to not upload > sent messages at all, and let Google take care of placing a copy in your > Sent folder. I am having a problem managing both my LogicMail mailbox and my server side mailbox. It seems that when I download messages from the server, LogicMail grabs the oldest "n" messages. I now have LogicMail set to download 500 messages (the max), but the mailbox I am working with now has over 500 messages. What this means is that I only get the oldest 500, and none of my recent messages are being downloaded. I don't want to delete these on the server, but don't care if they expire from my device. I know that there is a ticket (#350) which requests local deletion without server side deletion. If I could delete a local copy of the message, I could work around the above. Judging by the ticket, this would create significant internal synchronization problems between LM (which would have to know which server side messages to ignore) and the server. How about if the messages downloaded was only the most recent "n" messages, instead of the first ones? Not sure about IMAP, but based on my work with GetMail years ago, POP easily supports this. Based on a cursory look at how LogicMail works, it seems that this kind of implementation would result in LM automatically expiring the oldest messages locally so that it keeps the newest "n" messages. Thanks, Tim |

Hello there, I'm a new Logicmail user (currently 2.1.0.77 on a Blackberry Bold 9780). I'm really happy with it, so glad I can manage my emails w/o the push system, and since I'm a heavy email consumer I'm intensively testing it. I have a set of questions and remarks mostly concerning a single topic: marking messages as read. 1) is there a key shortcut to mark a message read from the message list? If not, would this be a feature to request? 2) is there a key shortcut to mark a whole folder as read (mark all messages in folder as read)? Would be nice if possible. 3) I noticed that replying or forwarding a message does mark it as read. But when pressing f or r over an incomplete message, it does just mark it as read - IMHO this is inconsistent because the forward/reply is not performed at all. I needed some time to understand what was (not) happening, then I noticed the partial status of the message thanks to the incomplete enveloppe icon. Thus I'm using f/r to mark partially retrieved messages as read. See how a usability issue can help sometimes? ;-) 4) is there a shortcut to jump to next unread message in list? 5) is there a way to empty a folder? 6) BTW, would be nice to get a little help in the application, at least a help page that lists available shortcuts. 7) last but not least: I retrieve emails, mark them as read. During a further folder update, some messages might be marked as unread again. I could not determine exactly when/how, but this is unexpected and annoying (I get a notification whenever I should not). Does anybody reproduce it? I hope I'm not posting too much at once.. Regards, -- wwp |

The log doesn't actually tell us anything anyways. Your first e-mail was a lot more informative. LogicMail doesn't implement any sort of proxy protocols, so the only possible explanation is that your provider is somehow screwing with the connection. -Derek On 1/13/2012 5:06 PM, Daniel Frank wrote: > Hello, > > sorry for the spamming, but it noticed I forgot to include the > connection log. > > #BlackBerry Event Log (cpt) > > #HwID: 0x5001807 > #DPIN: 0x27658f5b > #PVer: 6.4.0.142 > #AVer: 6.0.0.337 > E LogicMail - org.logicprobe.LogicMail.util.WrappedIOException: > Verbindung kann nicht geöffnet werden - 1/13 23:01:46 > E LogicMail - Verbindung kann nicht geöffnet werden - 1/13 23:01:46 > i net.rim.networkapi - FatF java.io.EOFException - 1/13 23:01:46 > i net.rim.networkapi - Fatf 1 - 1/13 23:01:46 > a net.rim.tcp - disc 1 - 1/13 23:01:46 > d net.rim.tcp - TXss - 1/13 23:01:44 > d net.rim.tcp - TXsb 94 - 1/13 23:01:44 > d net.rim.tcp - OPEN - 1/13 23:01:44 > a net.rim.tcp - open > tcpsocket://imap.mail.somewhere.de:993;interface=cellular - 1/13 23:01:43 > d net.rim.networkapi - FcoC > ssl://imap.mail.somewhere.de:993;deviceside=true - 1/13 23:01:43 > i net.rim.networkapi - Fatt 1 - 1/13 23:01:43 > i net.rim.networkapi - FatF > net.rim.device.api.io.transport.InsufficientCoverageException: > Insufficient Coverage - 1/13 23:01:43 > i net.rim.networkapi - Fatf 6 - 1/13 23:01:43 > i net.rim.networkapi - Fatt 6 - 1/13 23:01:43 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.close() - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.getFolderMessages() - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opened with 0 messages in index file - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opening: file:///SDCard/BlackBerry/logicmail/local/Trash - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.close() - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.getFolderMessages() - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opened with 0 messages in index file - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opening: file:///SDCard/BlackBerry/logicmail/local/Sent - 1/13 23:01:41 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.close() - 1/13 23:01:40 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.getFolderMessages() - 1/13 23:01:40 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opened with 0 messages in index file - 1/13 23:01:40 > d LogicMail - MaildirFolder.open() > Opening: file:///SDCard/BlackBerry/logicmail/local/Drafts - 1/13 23:01:40 > i LogicMail - Application startup > Date: Fr Jan. 13 23:01:40 Europe/Amsterdam 2012 > Name: LogicMail > Version: 2.0.0.291 > Platform: 9800 6.0.0.337 (touch) > - 1/13 23:01:40 > > > Am 13.01.2012 22:36, schrieb Daniel Frank: >> Hello, >> >> I have an issue when using LogicMail through the mobile network after >> upgrading to the latest stable version 2.0.0.291 (same issue with >> unstable). Hello, I have an issue when using LogicMail through the mobile network after upgrading to the latest stable version 2.0.0.291 (same issue with unstable). Sadly I did not write down the old version I had been using, but it should be around August 2011. The connection is working fine through the Wireless LAN connection, however when I try to connect through the mobile network using "Direct TCP". I simply get the message that the connection could not be opened. Since there is very little I can debug on my BB, I have checked the server and when examining the logs I noticed errors like these: Jan 13 22:14:00 imap-login: Info: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=82.113.XX.YY, lip=10.1.AA.BB, TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() failed: error:1407609B:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:https proxy request The remote IP matches the device the blackberry is using for www requests, so I know for sure that this request comes from the blackberry. To further analyze this, I snooped and saw that exactly the following is what the imap server receives over the TCP connection from the blackberry: CONNECT imap.mail.somewhere.de:993 HTTP/1.1 Host: imap.mail.somewhere.de:993 Connection: close Where imap.mail.somewhere.de with port 993 is the imapserver i configured in LogicMail to connect to, of course. And since it's working in WLAN mode, the settings should be correct. Why is LogicMail trying to connect to my email server assuming it's a proxy server? Is LogicMail at fault here, or is it some strange thing my provider (O2 Germany) is doing? Regards, Daniel Frank |

Hi, Sat, 24 Dec 2011 23:13:23 -0500, Derek Konigsberg <dko...@lo...> : > Looks like your BB OS version has a bug that's causing this problem: ... That was indeed true, I upgraded my OS version and the bug went away. Thanks a lot. Unfortunately I can't still connect to my mail server through IMAP. I suspect that has something to do with my internet carrier, blocking outside mail connections. I administer the our own mail server and when I try to connect from Logicmail, no connection attempt reaches the server. I know it's a little OT, can you suggest any network debugging tools for BB? So that I can pinpoint the place of the problem? Doruk -- Özgür Yazılım A.Ş. ~ # http://www.ozguryazilim.com.tr |

Looks like your BB OS version has a bug that's causing this problem: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/NullPointerException-on-HomeScreen-updateIcon/m-p/22254/highlight/true#M849 (That's a developer forum thread, but you'll notice that the posted stack trace looks almost identical to the one LogicMail was causing on your device.) They also say that the bug is fixed in newer 4.5.0.x releases. According to the Crackberry forums, the latest available for that device is 4.5.0.188: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-curve-83xx-f52/ If the version you are running is really the latest your carrier wants to provide, then they obviously have not cared about that device in a *long* time. You may want to upgrade to a newer OS build regardless of which carrier it came from. (This is a very popular thing in the BB community, since carriers rarely want to release updates once they've sold you the phone.) -Derek On 12/24/2011 12:17 PM, Doruk Fisek wrote: > Sat, 24 Dec 2011 11:48:10 -0500, Derek Konigsberg > <dko...@lo...> : > >> Immediately go back to the device's home screen (if the app is stuck, >> press Alt-Back and select the home icon) > ... > Thanks for the quick response. Immediately go back to the device's home screen (if the app is stuck, press Alt-Back and select the home icon) Then press Alt-lglg (hold down Alt, while pressing the keys "l" "g" "l" "g") This should bring up the device's event log viewer. Look for a bold line near the top, hopefully one that says "NullPointerException", and click on it. Inside, check to see that it mentions "logicmail" somewhere in the text. If so, copy it and paste it into something you can sent in. (either a BB e-mail, memo, to-do-item text you can sync, etc.) I also have a page called "debugging" on the project website that describes a similar process in more detail. -Derek On 12/24/2011 11:26 AM, Doruk Fisek wrote: > Hi, > > I'm trying to install Logicmail on a Blackberry 8320, with OS 4.5.0.37 > (latest for this product). > > I tried with both 2.0.0.291 and 2.1.0.77.
