I've been spending the better part of the last few days trying to get this to work. I've followed the instructions at http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net but I'm still having problems. I'm using the Gentoo distribution, if that matters. I have the compiled source of the XFree86 version I am using (4.3). My tablet is a Wacom Graphire USB and it shows up as event3, not event0, 1, or 2. First, I was using kernel 2.6.1. When I configured the linuxwacom-0.6.4 package, it detected my kernel as 2.6. I followed the instructions and things seemed to work. When I tried the Gimp, however, I encountered a problem: I could draw with pressure sensitivity, but my CPU usage would go through the roof, and the cursor would stay as the selected drawing tool; the whole system would not respond to anything other than drawing on the drawing area. Sometimes, if I waited a LONG time, the system would resume normal response, but if I used the tablet on the drawing area, it would be paralyzed again. I was also planning on upgrading my kernel, so I did. Maybe the problem wouldn't exist on 2.6.8? During configure, it detected my kernel as 2.6.6. When trying to insmod the wacom.o located in the 2.6.6 directory, I got the following error: insmod: error inserting './wacom.o': -1 Invalid module format I then tried the beta linuxwacom-0.5.4 release (I don't understand why the beta has a lower version number, by the way). During configure of this package, it detected my kernel as 2.6. I get the same error when trying to insmod the appropriate wacom.o. Sorry for the long message. Any help would be great! This is extremely frustrating. |
