Hi, I just got a Wacom Graphire2 tablet, and am using the linuxwacom drivers. I followed the HOWTO; building wacom.o, inserting the module, configuring X, replacing the X module, and everything was fine. I setup the wacom module to be loaded at boot, and everything was still working fine, kindof. Most of the time when I reboot the table works as X/Gnome2.2 is loading (the cursor responds as I move the pen around the tablet), but when Gnome is just about done loading it stops responding. Also the light on the tablet stays solid orange instead of going green when taping the surface. When I reload the wacom driver the green light responds as usual, but still no response from cursor. I've tried restarting X (ctrl-alt-bkspace) but that doesn't help. My system is Gentoo v1.4 kernel 2.4.20-r1 This is what i found in /var/log/messages from initial bootup (I see the same thing whenever the module is loaded, even after reloading the wacom driver after it was not responding) Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: usb.c: registered new driver wacom Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: Reporting max 10206, 7422 Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3, frame# 517 Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: wacom.c: Setting tablet report for tablet data Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: input1: Wacom Graphire on usb1:3.0 Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: wacom.c: v1.30-j0.5.2 Vojtech Pavlik <vo...@su...> Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: wacom.c: USB Wacom Graphire and Wacom Intuos tablet driver (LINUXWACOM-DEBUG) Feb 20 09:24:09 localhost kernel: wacom_events This message appears as one of the last messages after completely logged into Gnome every time the device stops responding. Feb 20 09:24:53 localhost kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout I have tried linuxwacom-0.4 and linuxwacom-0.5 with the same results. Also, wacdump output is as expected based on cursor response. I've also tried many combinations of constantly moving the pen and doing nothing at all durring bootup with no predictable results. I have autologin and tried turning that off, then after a reboot let GDM sit there for a few minutes then login and the same thing happens at the same time durring Gnome boot. I've also tried to minimize as much as possible the startup programs durring Gnome startup, but it had no effect. Other USB devices on my system are a USB mouse (my core pointer), Handspring Visor, and Nomad Muvo ... all of which are not effected by the wacom device problems. Also, the tablet has responded on every boot, it just usually stops responding when Gnome finishes loading. Any suggestions on how to find the root of the problem? Have you heard of this happening? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information on my system I will be happy to provide. I'm sorry if this is kindof a long email, but I wanted to include as much information as possible.
