Why xinerama over twinview? > Well, I had some problems with window managers not recognizing the twinview mode. I like to have a primary screen to work on with only on this screen the normal window manager bells-n-whistles and a secondary screen to dump windows and icons on (out of the way). It appears, however, that GNOME does recognize twinview when configured in the xorg.conf file. And so this appears to be possible. The main problem is the fact that in twinview the tablet is mapped to the whole desktop (i.e, both twinview screens). And, given that I only use the tablet in one screen at a time, halve the tablet is not used, and I have thus less than optimal resolution on the tablet. I am somewhat confused about the latter since the driver code does suggest that the ScreenNo option should work with twinview mode. With regards, Gerco. |
