please, don't just post a link to a forum thread but provide a summary of
what's to be found there as well. developers tend to be very busy and forums
have notoriously bad SNR.

by posting a link, you're expecting the other person to leave their mail
client, open a browser window, figure out the actual information from the
forum thread, then quote the matching sections, copy them back into the mail
program, reply to them. and you're not expecting this from one person, but
from _every_ person that reads your email.

fwiw, I usually just ignore messages like this, because of the effort
required to get anywhere useful. The easier you make it for others to help
you, the more help you will get.
