It is not possible to map the mousewheel scrolling onto the left and right stripe of the Intuos3 tablet. This makes the stripes actually useless.

    Are you using the GNOME, Unity (Ubuntu), or Cinnamon desktop environment? These DEs override our driver's default settings (which are to have the strips perform mousewheel scrolling) and do not appear to offer any way to configure mousewheel scrolling in their control panels. If this is the case, I would suggest filing a feature request at the GNOME Bugzilla since the other two desktop environments are based on GNOME. Be sure to post a link to the bug back here for reference.

    If you are /not/ using one of the above desktop environments, could you please elaborate a bit more on the system you are using? I've tested an Intuos3 A5 with xf86-input-wacom 0.34.0 and am able to use the following xsetwacom commands to configure scrolling:

    $ xsetwacom set <pad> StripLeftUp button 4
    $ xsetwacom set <pad> StripLeftDown button 5
    $ xsetwacom set <pad> StripRightUp button 4
    $ xsetwacom set <pad> StripRightDown button 5

    Note that the commands above will /not/ necessarily work if you are using GNOME/Unity/Cinnamon since those DEs try to have complete control over tablet configuration.
