These should be the same is possible. please check that the FrameBuffer is okay with your resolution by using the 'fbset' program on the console (you may need to search net for this tool and compile it) please remove the "Load Int10" from your "Section Module" section you have an A4k with CS_PPC 604? you'll probably need to add Option "XAANoScanlineCPUToScreenColorExpandFill" to your 'Device' section. I'd seriously strip out the modules that are loaded by default in the XF86Config - eg DRI, GLX, DDC etc etc and put them back one at a time (they do some seriously playing-up things if they dont work properly on your setup) and i'd seriously strip out the modelines and abilities of the monitor. you didnt just use XF86Config-4 without checking and editing did you? You can kill your monitor doing things like that.... Alan |

hi, Sorry but even your XF86Config-4-2 file doesn't work well: sometimes it works, sometimes i return to the console after kde is ok and sometimes th= e display becomes corrupted and i have to do a reset. In 16 bits mode, the display is always corrupted. Yes, i have. > Willy: Please can you remove the Int10 stuff from your XF86config(-4?) > file (in /etc/X11/ ) I removed the "load Int10" line and now it works but there are 3 other problems: -In 16 bits mode, all the colors are bad. It looks like an indexed mode used in a true color mode. -In 24 bits mode, some colors are bad:the anti-aliasing of the fonts is yellow instead of white and the gear in the konkeror's home page is yellow instead of blue. -When i quit kde to return to the console, the screen becomes black and i have to do a reset. Plain Amiga Fastfilesystem (FFS) ? what is the output from 'mount'? how do you mount the Amiga disk? Is it in /etc/fstab or do you mount it manually on command line? alan |

hi, question to all: anyone with working A4000 and CVision do you have 'nobats' in your bootstrap line? I see the memory has BAT mappings but the APUS config doesnt pick up BATS eg > Memory BAT mapping: BAT2=64Mb, BAT3=32Mb, residual: 31Mb > Total memory = 127MB; using 256kB for hash table (at c02c0000) > ...<stuff removed>... > APUS: BATs=0, BUS=67MHz, RAM=60ns, PCI bridge=1 ^^^^^^ Willy: Please can you remove the Int10 stuff from your XF86config(-4?) file (in /etc/X11/ ) ie if you have load Int10 in your Modules section at the top, remove it. and place Option "NoInt10" into your Device line it looks clear that the CVision driver is dying because of this. ALSO, please do NOT touch or play with PermediaII settings under the framebuffer extra options - they are not for us APUS people...they are for x86 PC folks iirc - and really should be non-configurable for APUS people. will triple check this alan |

Hi, I am unable to copy from Linux back to my miggy. I get a message saying "system is read only" I have been able to copy stuff over before, but not at the moment, what might cause this problem? BTW Copying the other way works ok. Hi! My X-server dies quite often now when I've switched to Glint. I've tested this with Gnome and KDE. So, I'm hoping that this problem will be fixed once I get my hands on more RAM memory. If it doesn't, then I will definitely stop using Glint. I will have another 64MB by the end of this month. That makes it a total of 128MB of RAM on my Amiga. Do anyone here know of this Glint problem? -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

Hi. 2.4.20-1(APUS) kernel boots on my machine now. But, it's buggy. When I tried to load a module in Soundtracker the whole system crashed. For now, I will keep on using 2.4.18 kernel. It's quite stable and works pretty good :). But it's a long way from being perfect. In the end of this year, or perhaps the next I will be a Mac owner. It's going to be exciting comparing performance between my Amiga and my (possibly) Ibook. I will be running Debian on that machine too :). -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

Hi! I still have problems getting off the net with Linux. But I'm making progress here. With the 2.4.4-apus kernel I've managed to get my Telix56k modem dial up the phone number to my ISP, but after a few seconds the pppd daemon dies(pppd daemon 2.4.1 shipped with Debian3.0). Is there a better version of pppd available? Btw. 2.4.4 is slower and much more buggy than the 2.4.18 kernel which I use the most. The latest version 2.4.20, this one doesn't even want to boot on my system, but I will try a few more times, though. When the the official 2.6 kernel reaches stable, will there be an APUS kernel short afterwards? -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

Run 2.4.13. 2.4.15->2.4.18 have broken A1200 IDE code (the interupts dont get serviced and the whole system locks up when the IDE interface is probed). this is a well known problem. My suggestion: Run 2.4.13 , we are looking at the issues with 2.4.20 and hopefully everyone can jump straight to this new kernel revision when bugs are finally ironed out. Alan |

Has anyone some suggestions? what programs are you running at startup? please give a listing of the output from '/sbin/chkconfig --list' and of your /etc/rc.d directories. I might also ask you what SCSI settings you have and the output of /proc/interupts etc - but firstly i have to say that CSPPPC_SCSI is still under development and there may be issues speed related and that if you ARE using the framebuffer, then you will have slow speeds with X - and memory usage. I might also ask if you are using the AGA chips at all? If not, you can get better system BUS respsonses by adding video=amifb:off to the bootstrap line - which allows the higher speed mode to be running alan |

Hi! I've heard that it's possible to use some sort of acceleration for the X-server. I have a Permedia2 card and I'm wondering if it is supposed to work with glint?
