My Linux partitions got lost months ago due to failure of my CSPPC card. When I got a new one I didn't care to restore the partition until recently, after getting a HighwayUSB card, and I could not boot the kernel. I suspected the Highway was the cause but I was too lazy to try removing it. :-)= |

It is what I've suspected. I removed the HighwayUSB and Linux boots up with no problems. I used 2.4.18-apus kernel. WITH the HighwayUSB I wasn't able to boot the 2.4.18 2.4.13 and the 2.2.10 kernel. So, for now, since I currently don't have much use of the HighwayUSB it will stay removed until there is a kernel available which accepts this hardware. -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

Hi! I'm having trouble booting up Debian here. I'm quite sure that there is something with my hardware which the APUS kernels don't like. After inserting the HighwayUSB I could still boot up Linux, but then it didn't work anymore. Hi! I now have a highwayUSB in my Amiga. So if anyone need me to test some drivers, let me know! ;) But currently, my Linux system will not boot. I think I need to replace my fan on the ppc, but I don't know if this will help, because the fan IS working. Maybe it's not working very well, though. -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

Hi all! I have problem here, and this is an old problem. I can't get online :(. With the 2.4.18 kernel the whole system freezes. With the 2.4.4 kernel, the modem starts dialing but after this the pppd daemon dies. And please don't tell me to use a 2.2.x kernel, because I won't. I've heard that someone made it work with the 2.4.4 kernel.. I don't even know if this would produce something sensible if it would work, since you basically need to have some amiga stuff to boot into AmigaOS, and from there you can go on starting the linux kernel via boothack. I heavily doubt that the debian installer is going to provide all the Amiga utilities to boot. I guess this step is basically made for powerpc machines capable of booting the linux kernel directly from OpenFirmware or some other entity, using yaboot or quick/miboot. > ... and than he says he couldn't "unmount" (in german aush=E4ngen) the > "/instmnt" partition and therefore he goes back in the installation > prozess to the point where i can decide from with source i would > install. As said above, skip the boot disks step by navigating down through the list of the available installation steps (via scroll down, i.e. "pfeil nacht unten Taste"), and go to the next sensible step after the make boot disk step!! > can anybody help me please to solve this problem... thanks a lot! >=20 > bye siegfried --=20 Best wishes, Andi |

hi! I'm new here so i will come directly to my question: I'm a writer for the amiga Magazine amigaFututre (www.amigafuture.de) and i had to write an linux installation article for my magazine. So here is my problem i had downloaded the actually stuff from apus sourceforge for the installation and the linux installation boots from my amiga. the first part of the installation works fine but when he checks the debain cdrom (that works also fine, he finds the files he need) the he tried to make the boot disks. This happend in an error where he writes he could't make the disks and after that he says he would install the main files for the debian linux system on my amiga ... and than he says he couldn't "unmount" (in german aushängen) the "/instmnt" partition and therefore he goes back in the installation prozess to the point where i can decide from with source i would install. can anybody help me please to solve this problem... thanks a lot! bye siegfried |

Hi! As I had promised, I made my Amiga SFS linux driver working under 2.2.10 kernel. The kernel patch is included as an attachment. On the asfs homepage (http://march.home.staszic.waw.pl/asfs/ or http://www.staszic.waw.pl/~march/asfs/) there is also a compiled module for 2.2.10 kernel. Regards -- Marek Szyprowski .. Hi! This this is the second version of my linux Amiga Smart File System driver. I've fixed some bugs, cleaned up the code and added some features. On http://march.home.staszic.waw.pl/asfs/ there is a sample image of AmigaSFS disk for testing, patch against the previous version and a compiled module for 2.4.18 kernel (put it in "/lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/fs/asfs/"). Now its almost full-featured, working read-only driver. :) As I've written before: Any comments? Does it work on your system? Could it be added to the APUS tree? Is it worth trying to add this file system to official Linux kernel tree? Can somebody check if it works on Linux/m68k and other "strange" linux systems? Regards -- Marek Szyprowski ..
