hi, okay, its not the nice AutoFAQ...but it'll stop a lot of the little questions that keep on appearing (I do like the recent rise in traffic to the lists though! :-) ) I've created a basic FAQ page for APUS in place of the previous system. I've been in communication with the author of FAQ-O-Matic and know why sf.net isnt the best place for such a thing to live...there are workarounds but time/resources etc are limited. Anyway, its not all singing or dancing, it doesnt use javascript , flash or PlugIn-Only-For-Windows(tm). but it gives you anweres quick. it loads VERY quickly and works with text-only browsers. IE It does the job! (c) :-) http://linux-apus.sourceforge.net/FAQ.html Please comment/submit etc etc Alan |

Hi, I'm using the italian keyboard map (/usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/amiga-it.kbd) that was in the distro (I guess, otherwise it was in the apus archives, but I don't think so), i.e. LinuxPPC1999 Q3, and I cannot find the [] chars nor the {} ones (which I really do need for js programming). I can't use the Alt+"+" combination I use under Workbench, since all the Alt+<key> combos are mostly system shortcuts. Any help? Bye Mik |

Hi all, i'm trying to setup a plip connection to an old notebook, but it doesn't work. Does the Amiga parport support this at all? Are there any kernel/module options i should use? Both sides give "plip0: timed out (1, 89)" like messages, the plip-howto suggests that one of the ports might be unidirectional, but wich one...? Kind regards, Pieter Ennes. -- Pas op de muonen! |

Hi all, I'm having problems with video display, no matter what video mode I selec= t I just get scramble display. I issued the command line: bootstrap --apus -k apus/linux -r apus/images-1.44/root.bin root=3D/dev/= ram rw video=3Dvirge:mode:1024x768-65 console=3Dtty0 = or bootstrap --apus -k apus/linux -r apus/images-1.44/root.bin root=3D/dev/= ram rw video=3Dvirge:mode:800x600-56 console=3Dtty0 and can't get Debian to display properly. In fact, there seem to be a problem with frequencies, does anyone now = working virge modes ? I have a CyberV643D 4 Mb,blizz PPC 175 040 and 64 M= b RAM. The above is the same command I issue to boot my LinuxPPC2000 Q4 distro, = of course with the proper changes, but video mode is the same why it does= n't work with Debian ? BTW I don't know if this can be an issue, but bootstrap and ppcboot_wup a= nd ppcboot_pup are the same ones I used with LinuxPPC2000Q4. BTW I'm trying to install Debian on a fresh 1.5 Gb partition, I already h= ave working but unstable LinuxPPCQ4 on another partition, but now became = so unstable that I can't even upgrade packages, if I try to reinstall RPM= says it can't find the database, (rebuild ? how ?), and other packages r= efuse completely to install, the thing is I have a working Apache 1.3.20 = server, with PHP 4.06 , MySQL-MAX, phpMyAdmin, and PHPnuke, and I need to= migrate them somewhere, but the installation of 2000PPCQ4, doesn't recog= nize all the needed packages, so reinstalling a fresh LinuxPPCq4 is out o= f question, that's why I'm trying Debian. TIA Regards, Rick = |

Hello Emanuele > please give me the link for linuxppc 2000 q4 CD-ROM iso image (and it name) > for MakeCD burn on amiga. http://linuxppc.org/download/?print=1 You have to use the RAW image, otherwise it won't work with MakeCD! But, btw, didn't other users report problems with 2000 Q4 installation? Please search the archive about that topic. Btw: there are several other distros for PowerPC, which have working installations (Debian, SuSE, ..)! -- All the best, Andi |

Hi Emanuele > Hi all, > > only two question: > > 1- Can I use all LinuxPPC RPM packets applications (Yellow Dog, Mandrake, > RedHat, Suse, etc) on my LinuxPPC 1999 Q3 ? It depends. First of all, not every distribution uses the same directory tree layout (well, maybe the newest distros are now using the a common standard, but I don't think that LinuxPPC 1999 Q3 already did). Then, LinuxPPC is based on RedHat packages. This makes it possible to use at least all packages of other PPC distros, which are also based on RedHat packages (for example Yellow Dog). SuSE for example uses an other directory scheme (or at least an other handling of config files). If you haven't got very complex SuSE packages, they should also run within the LinuxPPC scheme. I have to admit that I don't know anything about Mandrake. > 2- A great site where I find all LinuxPPC RPM aplications for my LinuxPPC > 1999 Q3. http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/ -- Kind regards, Andi |

I don't know anything about how Suse is set up but look at the following files (if they exist) for hints : /etc/rc.d/init.d/network /etc/sysconfig/network /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts Commands of interest to you might be 'ifconfig' and 'dhcpcd'.
