However I'm getting this problem when I boot using the potato root.bin file! Specifically which kernel am I supposed to use to boot this....as it would seem to me to be a kernel problem So far I've tried from the APUS site. 2.2.10 2.4.4 2.4.9 Like I said, I'm installing via HTTP and it is successfully pulling down the code. (drivers.tgz, rescue.bin) but failing when attempting to mount the rescue.bin image. Guys, Once again I'm attemtping to install APUS onto my Amiga PPC system and am running into problems. Hardware is as follows Amiga 4000 Elbox 7 slot zorro bus board (with DMA mod to slot 7) 4091 controller Cybervision 64/3D AriadneII CyberStormPPC 604/233 Quantum Viking II 9 gig drive attached to the 4091 via HD cables and addapters. No CD-ROM 96megs ram Software (From APUS site) 2.4.9 Kernel LinuxPPC 2000 Ramdisk Image Boothack 629 Ok - Drive is partitioned into 4 seperate partitions under HDtoolbox swap, /, and /usr, final partition is a 600meg FFS partition. Attempting to install Linux PPC CD from from the Compendium CD (LinuxPPC 1999) CD. I have managed to install with this combination before but can be damned if I can get it to install now. Steps for install as follows 1) Partition disks and ensure they have correct ID's (swap, ext2 etc) 2) Copy contents of Linux PPC CD to ffs partition (/dev/sda4) 3) Change resolution to 800x600-70 as this is all that will work with BS 4) Install LinuxPPC (selcting /dev/sda4 as the source of Software) 5) Bombs out with error as follows "Error unpacking archive" Boothack command is as follows Bootstrap --apus -k vmlinux -r ramdisk.image.gz -root=/dev/ram -video=cyber3d:800x600-70 nobats Ok - anyone have any bright ideas. Other questions I have . Can I do an FTP install of the latest LinuxPPC (I just get errors regarding the lack of /base/hdlist) Obviously I can't get the folks at LinuxPPC to add this to all their mirrors. But this seems to be the only way. . I gave up attempting to install (my prefered) Debian PPC install due to the rescue.bin disk image. How do you get around this. yes, I've read the documentation and damned If i can get it to work. I just get error messages when trying to mount the image. . Is there any plans to be able to install either YellowDog or Mandrake. . Ok - if I do manage to get this LinuxPPC installed, it is really out of date. Is there a way to do a bulk RPM update to bring me into the 21st Century :) Any and all help appreciated re Francois |

Hi, Are there any APUS users out here running Linux 2.4.x who own a = Prometheus + Voodoo 3 that are willing to try out a test kernel? The = Prometheus driver is at the stage where it recognizes and allocates all = resources for each PCI slot. Hi I am asking this question because there are a lot of status requests by many Amigans interested in using Linux on their machines. It seems as there are a lot of users outthere who are owning a pci bridging card. I must confess that I don't know that much about Amiga pci bridging technology, neither if the cards named above are at sale at all (e.g the predator). There has been some discussion of mediator or grex topics on this list a few months ago, but since then, nobody knows of the actual status of any of those boards. So, it would be nice if people who are actually working on a driver/kernel patch to support an Amiga pci bridge could speak up and tell a bit about the status and the project itself. It would also be nice if people actually using one of those boards could tell how it feels. I would appreciate it a lot, so then I could tell the people outthere how it is about their board, because I could never answer such questions till now, I could only point them to these mailinglists archives, and after they looked at the various postings here, they came back to tell me that they wouldn't know anything more than before. PS: I am sending this message to both lists to reach the most of the people outthere, but please only respond to the list you are subscribed to or to the devellist, it's always a bit annoying if every post gets doubled on the lists.. PPS: Don't flame me about the status question, I am not asking for XFree86 4.2.0 ;) -- Kind regards, would be nice if some of you could 'enlighten' the dust a bit, Andi |

Hi, I've pretty much manually upgraded all the rpm packages so that I'm now running YDL 2.1 on my Amiga. I've also sucessfully been able to get the source from CVS and compile it and run it on my Amiga (LinuxPPC 2.4.17). The problem I'm having is that I haven't been able to use the DHCPCD protocol to get access to the net. Basically, I've set up a static address and connected to the net via internet sharing on another machine. Has any other user had this problem? Sincerely, Adam Kowalczyk |
