I had to switch to powerup to make the kernel boot. maybe you could try to disable warpos with initppc (I think it was the program I use to bring pup back). Lio |

On my machine, I have also an A4000T with CSPPC/CVPPC, I can only run 2.4.20 (the latest 2.4.27 won't boot here; getting error on scsi). Note that the kernel won't boot correctly if you have any Flash card in your Amiga like Algor/Algor Pro or Kickflash. Remove your Algor and it should work. Cheers, Matthias |

Hello, last weekend I was sitting infront of my AMIGA and gave the 2.6 kernel a try. It failed, because bootstrap canceled with a message, that it can not allocate memory. I than compressed the kernel image with gzip. With that, I guess bootstrap gave the same message after decompressing the kernel. Don't remeber exactly what was printed out. So far I have no working kernel found. I tried several kernels in the past and I remeber that several different problems occured. Maybe, if one of you has a working APUS system, could you please tell me, what files you are using too boot it. What problems did you have and how did you solve them? Any hint is welcome at the current stage. I could then do some more advanced testing with this info. I remember that certain drivers sometimes caused the boot process to halt, like SCSI driver. Are there options available to disable such drivers for testing? I have a A4000T (Amiga Technologies), CSPPC (DCE), Cybervision64/3D, Ariadne 2, Algor. There are 8MB of RAM on the mainboard and 64MB on the CSPPC. I have WarpUP installed. If you need more info, feel free to ask, but response time from my side will unfortunately be quite slow, since I currently see my AMIGA only once a month or so :-(. Hello Sven I would like to try the 2.6 kernel but because of my PPP problems have been unable to download it, so I may have to sort this problem out. My problem is when I try to connect the computer just freezes (before dialing). I have had no problems with using my modem on the AmigaOS side (through Genesis which came with OS3.9) and through Mac emulation (using FreePPP) in both these cases I use the generic modem setup. I also read that you can use files that you have downloaded to Amiga partitions, but I have only found information for doing this on FFS partitions and I use PFS. Although I do think it would be better to just get my PPP setup going in LInux rather than going around it this way. Any ideas? Hi, does the latest kernel support any USB hardware like Subway/Highway/ Algor? I have the problem that with kernel 2.4.20 and an Algor installed the system won't startup (just a black screen with the tux picture and the prombt cursor). Cheers, Matthias |

Thanks for the response Matthias The Kernel I'm using is 2.4.27-apus. The desktop manger didn't start automatically and entering gdm doesn't work either. I haven't been able t= o get a ppp set up, it just freezes so I skipped that, would that be causin= g problems or is it unrelated and can be set up later? Possibably the modem= isn't reconised (it is connected to the standard Amiga serial port though= ). Otherwise if this isn't affecting the desktop manager I would prefer to g= et a working desktop first. Hope that helps!? Hi I have just installed the lastest Stable, Sarge version of Debian on my A1200T with 240Mhz blizzard PPC & Bvision, with 128mbs of RAM. The install seemed to go well and I installed gnome through dselect again seemed to go fine. Where my problem is when I login either as root or user and type startx it says unknown comand as if it isn't installed?! I am new to Linux but have been reading up on it and looking at docs on the net and haven't found anything about this, anthough there is a lot of infomation out there and I can't look under every stone! If anyone has any idea I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Hamish Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com |
