This might be a bit confusing because we are changing our version numbering scheme, just believe me that it will be better in the end. :) > i guess nothings changed in the 4.0.2 branch so the glint driver still > crashes out. There were a (small) number of glint fix that got into 4.0.3, see the CHANGELOG file for details. in particualr, there is one fix, that i hope will be fixing the problems that were encountered when using 2.4.x without pci compiled in. I think at least. The symptoms were that it complained about a lot of missing symbols/modules. Friendly, Sven Luther |

hi, I've recently compiled a kernel made from 2.4.2 CVS sources (and it didnt fail when booted - I've yet to look at what option caused failure) anyhow, the problem is that when i compiled the kernel, 'make modules_install' placed the modules into /lib/modules/2.4.2 (as you'd expect!) but when I boot the created kernel image, its looking for modules in the /lib/modules/2.4.1 directory! i've copied the modules from 2.4.2 to 2.4.1 for now - but this behaviour is wrong - so I've reported it here. I guess an ID flag isnt set correctly..where? alan |

Hello! Sven LUTHER wrote: > Please compile and try out the xf-4_0_2-branch version, and report any = problem > you encounter. But I have the same problems as with all other pre-compiled X4 versions I= tried out. I have reported these problems some weeks ago. Maybe its a specific hardwar= e problem with my configuration, so don`t worry about this. But I think my X4-server problem is kernel related, because these problem= s only appear if I use the glint driver, with fbdev all works fine. O.K. The xf-4_0_2-branch works with a 2.2.10 kernel as well as on my 2.4.= 1 kernel. I also have compiled and tested the version I got with: cvs co xc. With this, the keyboard doesn`t work right. The shift-key is mapped to th= e alt-key and so there is no alt-key available. Pressing the shif-key makes no effect. = Also some keys at the nummeric-pad doesn`t work. All other keys seems working right. This effect is given running X under 2.4 or 2.2.10 kernel, it also doesn`= t matter if glint or fbdev is using. But if I using glint, I got a server crash after a minute or so: Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting Maybe its related with the same problem I described above. I will continuing try out the xf-4_0_2-branch. How can I get the sources for the 4.0.3? There is no 4.0.3 branch in the = cvs at http://www.xfree86.org/cvs/ Or must I use the xf-4_0_2-branch, xc or HEA= D? I`m a little bit confused... Ciao, Ren=E8 |
