Thanks... Thanks for the deboug output. Are you sure that there are any pending display output changes that should be written to the display while or after you disconnected it? The write functions are called on updates only, and the write functions should catch the disconnect state (for the write() system call fails). If there are no pending changes, nothing is written, so there's no write which could fail, and lcd4linux does not exit. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi there, > But generally, that device driver doens`t look like it does any error handling > at all for that case. > (Error return codes from the drv_generic_serial functions are silently > ignored, and not propagated back to the core) Thanks for the hint. Should be fixed in CVS. The generic serial driver gives up after 10 continuous errors. Please test! btw, maybe other drivers should catch this condition too. A panic exit is easy, just set the (global) variable 'got_signal' to -1 bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

There's probably an USB->Serial converter on the display. I'm not sure how the kernel "usb_serial" driver handles disconnects, when there`s still an open handle (and don`t have such an device to test right now) Could you post some dmesg output and lcd4linux -F -v -v -v output captured while disconnecting? But generally, that device driver doens`t look like it does any error handling at all for that case. (Error return codes from the drv_generic_serial functions are silently ignored, and not propagated back to the core) /Ernst |

hello again.my situation.starting lcd4linux.unpluging the usb device and it keeps running. So: signal(SIGHUP, handler); signal(SIGINT, handler); signal(SIGQUIT, handler); signal(SIGTERM, handler); if (timer_process(&delay) < 0) Those are the cases where it gets our of main loop. I just want it to be killed(stopped) when the device is unplugged. Any ideas PLEASE? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi, I found a quite old Sharp LM40001G LCD in my Fathers basement, its a 400x64= =20 Pixel Graphic LCD. I was planing to build some USB adaptor for it, and while digging arround f= or=20 datasheets I found that its still sold, and even for only 8=A4! Have a look at http://www.ingenieurbuero-riedel.de/index.htm Maybe some of you also have interrest in a cheap size-DOES-matter Graphic L= CD,=20 so we could share some of the development work. Interfacing it seems a bit of troublesome, as it doesn't contain a=20 framebuffer, so all data has to be sent continuosly. Greetings, /Ernst |
