I am having trouble getting my CrystalFontz 635 working. I did the configure, make, and make install with no problems, and got the sample conf copied to /etc/ (all files form CVS as of 2/7/07). Everytime I lunch it to try and get it working I get this: [root@asterisk1 lcd4linux]# lcd4linux -Fvv Version 0.10.1-761 starting plugin_cfg.c: Variable minute = '60000' (60000) plugin_cfg.c: Variable tack = '100' (100) plugin_cfg.c: Variable tick = '500' (500) [KVV] Using station 89 [KVV] Using default port 80 [KVV] Using default refresh interval of 60 seconds [KVV] Default abbreviation setting: off lcd4linux.c: initializing driver picoLCD drv_init(picoLCD) failed: no such driver Have any ideas? Also woundering if you know some of the commands that go with the CrystalFontz display? _________________________________________________________________ FREE online classifieds from Windows Live Expo buy and sell with people you know http://clk.atdmt.com/MSN/go/msnnkwex0010000001msn/direct/01/?href=http://expo.live.com?s_cid=Hotmail_tagline_12/06 |

I had a look at the sample code from ituner, and found that they use usb_interrupt_write() instead of usb_bulk_write(). I changed this in the lcd4linux driver too, and.... it works! Now I've seen the "bar bugs" too, and I found and corrected the bug: As you've stolen^Wadopted the code from USBLCD, there are two places where a ASCII 0 (zero) is escaped by another zero. This is necessary for the USBLCD, but not for your picoLCD. Removind this code, and all the bars work correctly! Unfortunately the SVN server is down at the moment, so I cannot chek my changes in. But I will do so as soon as it is up again. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Michael, An update from my side, I have to apologize for this but after updating my version of lcd4linux I never tried using the init.d script to try stop the process - just assuming I would need to do it manually - but today I tried starting it the way I have been but using the init.d script to stop it after each sleep period and so far it looks great. So again I am sorry for wasting your time - but it has been a learning curve so thank you for a great piece of software. Luis, this version was compiled for me. thanks again Gary Michael Reinelt wrote: > Hi again, > > >> lcd4linux -qf /etc/lcd/1.conf >> > please try to run it with -qvvf /etc/lcd/1.conf to increase verbose level. > > Next check your syslog for "thread started.." and "thread ended..." > messages. > > > TIA, Michael > > |

Hi All, Ok so we have upgraded LCD4Linux 0.10.1-756M compiled for Bering UCLIBC I have a script that run's lcd4linux -qf /etc/lcd/1.conf sleeps for 10sec then kills all pids relating to lcd4linux then runs the next display lcd4linux -qf /etc/lcd/2.conf continues in a loop showing various options it looks great but I am still getting errors in my syslog file Jan 24 11:53:34 GWA-X LCD4Linux[13100]: fatal error: semget() failed: No space left on device Jan 24 11:53:39 GWA-X LCD4Linux[11802]: removing stale PID file /var/run/lcd4linux.pid Jan 24 11:53:39 GWA-X LCD4Linux[11802]: fatal error: semget() failed: No space left on device Jan 24 11:53:39 GWA-X LCD4Linux[11802]: fatal error: semget() failed: No space left on device Jan 24 11:53:45 GWA-X LCD4Linux[3464]: removing stale PID file /var/run/lcd4linux.pid Jan 24 11:53:45 GWA-X LCD4Linux[3464]: fatal error: semget() failed: No space left on device Jan 24 11:53:50 GWA-X LCD4Linux[13141]: removing stale PID file /var/run/lcd4linux.pid Jan 24 11:53:55 GWA-X LCD4Linux[31388]: removing stale PID file /var/run/lcd4linux.pid of course I have to reboot the unit to allow me to start any new processes Anyone have suggestions ? -- Gary |

Can someone please confirm that these keycodes are working for *all* CF displays? First, I think the exec() should fork() in every case, otherwise there may be large delays which disturb other stuff within the lcd4linux engine (timers, ...) Probably it would be a better idea to integrate this "one-shot exec" into the existing exec() plugin. What do you think? Just checking the website it seems that the serial 632 does not offer this function, but they do make a special lcd that is supposed to offer that. Without having the lcd rewrite only one line, it seems that the modules are made for 4 row lcd screens. I would also like to know if transitions would work, as I have seen one screen fade into another, right now under Windows I have the CF logo fade into a foobar equalizer. I would just be happy if I could get the modules alternate, which I haven't figured out yet. Gnu_Raiz |

I understand it is in > milliseconds, but it does not seem to work as advertised. You are right, all these update speeds are in milliseconds. So a value of 1000 should give you an update every second. using 'tick' and 'tack' ist just a trick: tick and tack are 'variables', which are initialized on startup (you should have a 'variables' section in your config file) note that these two are the same variables { tick 1000 } widget any { ... update tick } and widget any { update 1000 } > If I try to use the gpo widget, I get > this when it tries to run the test. > > Crystalfontz::GPO(1): GPO out of range (1..0) > Crystalfontz::GPI(1): GPI out of range (1..0) > Crystalfontz::GPO(4): GPO out of range (1..0) > Crystalfontz: gpio_draw(1): GPO out of range (0..0) > Crystalfontz: gpio_draw(1): GPO out of range (0..0) You are using the 632, right? After having a look into the code, it looks like the 632 does not have any GPOI's configured (both values are set to zero). If you could tell me the number of GPI's/GPO's, I'd modify the driver. > Also if you run lcd4linux in interactive mode how do you quit out of the > mode? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Gnu_Raiz <gnu...@gm...> Date: Dec 23, 2006 9:52 PM Subject: Serial CrystalFontz 632 layout question! To: lcd...@li... Also it is unclear how to slow down a widget, I have played with the different speeds, the documentation is also not clear on what exactly the tick and tack do, and what the update is for. I understand it is in milliseconds, but it does not seem to work as advertised. For example the widget cpuinfo fly's across my screen, and I have tried to slow it down but it does not seem to work. If I try to use the gpo widget, I get this when it tries to run the test. Crystalfontz::GPO(1): GPO out of range (1..0) Crystalfontz::GPI(1): GPI out of range (1..0) Crystalfontz::GPO(4): GPO out of range (1..0) Crystalfontz: gpio_draw(1): GPO out of range (0..0) Crystalfontz: gpio_draw(1): GPO out of range (0..0) Also if you run lcd4linux in interactive mode how do you quit out of the mode? The man page does not show the proper technique to stop it. I have to kill the process to make it stop. ctrl C, or ctrl X, just seem to be std output. LCD4Linux 0.10.1-CVS Linux Gnu-Raiz 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Tue Dec 5 21:16:35 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux This is with ubuntu amd64 edgy I would like to get get this working I am willing to test setups, and layouts but something seems to be wrong. Gnu_Raiz I was curious if anyone had some insight about this problem, seems that the serial displays are really not in use much. I understand that the CrystalFontz usb uses a usb to serial driver, but I am unsure about the serial aspect. Gnu_Raiz |

Hi there, I just added a new, probably handy function to the evaluator: decode(index, ...) it takes a variable number of parameters, at least 2. the first one is interpreted as an index, and the function returns the n'th parameter. some examples: decode(-1,'a','b') => '' (empty) decode(0,'a','b') => 'a' decode(1,'a','b') => 'b' decode(2,'a','b') => '' (empty) decode(3, 'a','b','c','d','e','f') => 'd' It may be used to reduce nested '?' operators I've got two questions here: - is 'decode' the right name for it (there's a similar function in Oracle's PL/SQL) - is 'plugin_math' the right place for it? enjoy, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi there, I want to have the current svn repository version (the output of 'svnversion') somehow automagically in the code. Anyone has ideas about how to do this in a portable way with autoconf/automake? This should work with the .tar.gz version, too, where we may not have a svn client (and therefore no 'svnversion'). Please keep this in mind! TIA, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi Gary, > Ok so I have LCD4Linux 0.10.0 installed if that helps, This Version is quite old, and I'm quite sure it suffers from the bug that exec'ed threads never get killed. But this has been fixed in SVN. Is it possible for you to download and install a new version from SVN? > When I close the file after the timeout I use Kill to kill the pid file, > would this release the semphore ? if not how can I check to ensure that > the semphores are released after use ? Killing the main thread will not help. Maybe you could check if 'killall lcd4linux' will kill the remaining threads...
