And you can commit the spec file to the spec directory in the CVS. Name it something like kreatecd-suse64.spec. WIth the compile farm of sourceforge.net it might be possible to compile and build RPMs for some distributions. If I have some spare time... Sure, nobody started English documentation so you are welcome to do so. The doc should be based on the KDE 2.x docbook style and you can commit it to the CVS repository. Hi! Please update your cdrecord version to 1.9a03 if you want to use the latest CVS snapshot. WARNING : You won't be able to master ISO 9660 images with KreateCD <= 0.4.1 when cdrecord 1.9a03 (and the supplied mkisofs) is used. Only CVS snapshot is working. Hi! I've just released KreateCD 0.4.1 which is a bugfix release. It fixes the crash when the audio track at the audio options dialog stops playing because it ends. Additionally there are updated translations. You'll need cdrecord 1.8 - cdrecord 1.9a02 to run KreateCD 0.4.0 or KreateCD 0.4.1. Additionally there is an experimental multisession support in sourceforge.net. This version is different from KreateCD 0.4.1 and requires the latest cdrecord version (1.9a03 or later). If you want to try it Greetings Alexander Feigl |

Hi! I just released KreateCD 0.4.0 - which is a new stable version. It has an important security fix - so everybody using 0.3.0 should update now. You'll have to update cdrecord ( with mkisofs, cdda2wav) and cdparanoia too. CHANGES SINCE 0.3.0 ================== - new translations - CD R/W support - autoconfigure detects path of helper applications - user cannot change helper application paths for security reasons - improved TOC reading - fixed SCSI bus scanning for some drives - progress dialog improvements - much cleanups - QT 2.0 / KDE 2.0 fixes - improved choices when a read error occurs KreateCD 0.4.0 should run with KDE 1.x and current KDE 2.x snapshots. You can download KreateCD 0.4.0 from Sourceforge and soon from KDE mirrors too. Please look at http://www.moondream.de/kreatecd for details DEVELOPER ========== - KreateCD is free for changes now (language texts inclusive) - I plan to rewrite ISO image building to use path specs with command line / -path-list feature - maybe with "exclude files" too. - multisession support is planned - I plan to support cdrdao for writing and cdda2wav for audio ripping - some other features which are recorded at sourceforge.net Alexander |

Hi! I just released KreateCD 0.3.9 (beta release). Please test it and report all bugs to me or submit it at http://sourceforge.net. Changes since the last alpha (0.3.8c): - Updated german translations - Added a new dialog when a read error occurs. Now you are able to select "Ignore all errors" I am SEARCHING TRANSLATORS for the KreateCD project. If you have experiences with translating and you want to translate KreateCD for an unsupported language - please contact me. If you want to do translation not only for this version I'll add you to the project. Alexander Feigl |

Hi! I'll prepare 0.3.9 very soon - please test version 0.3.8c whether it detects cdrecord correctly. The previous versions had some problems on some systems. Known bug in 0.3.8c: - with recent cdrecord/mkisofs versions, it aborts with an error when building ISO images with "all files included". Please remove this option from ISO options dialog and everything will work well Alexander |

I've been making music CDs, and the process is so damn time consuming with KreateCD it's rediculous. I mean, it takes me 15 minutes to burn a CD, it shouldn't take me 60 minutes to get the software ready. Here's an example of what I want to do: Destination: Take 20 MP3 files and make an audio CD out of them. Competition: In adaptec, this takes me about 2 minutes. Why This Product: Because I refuse to use a lousy operating system and think that there ought to be superior software for the superior operating system. Currently: I open all of the MP3 files in XMMS, go to it's options, select the disk writer function, and convert them all to WAV files - using XMMS because there is no KDE program to do this. - I then start KreateCD - here we go. Let's see, add track, edit track, select track type, select file, click okay - well that wasn't too bad...oh what, I have to go do it nineteen more times? Aww man... - half an hour later... - *phew*, I think that's all, *looks over list*, hey, that's a data track, *fixes it*...ok - Create CD - Hmm, it's not writing yet...it's converting the WAVs into something else...that's odd, Adaptec never had to do this....hmm... - ten minutes later... - burning started. - bout time What I Want: Open KreateCD, click a menuselection or toolbar button for audio CD Open 20 MP3/WAV files at once or drag and drop from konqueror/kfm Click Create CD. Have the files converted from WAV/MP3 format into "cd audio format" on the fly, as the CD is burning - have an adjustable buffer size for this. Have an option to preconvert for slow computers. Go directly from MP3 to cd-audio format without bothering with WAVs. In general, make KreateCD a lot more automated. -- - Rivyn [ Casey Allen Shobe ] - ri...@ma... [ UIN: 1494523 ] |

Hi! There is an ALPHA release (0.3.8) of KreateCD. Anybody is welcome to test it and report bugs. You can download it at : ftp://download.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/kreatecd/kreatecd-0.3.8.tar.gz Major changes: - major code cleanup - CD R/W support - improved TOC reading - fixed SCSI bus scanning for some drives which were recognized as hard drives - QT 2.x / KDE 2.x fixes This release requires at least cdrecord-1.8 (and should work with the new cdrecord-1.8.1a1 - although there are some "errors" in the configure script) Greetings Alexander |

(the application KreateCD relies on to burn CD-Rs). It works in DAO mode and has support for Teac CD-R 55S too. Have a look at it: http://www.ping.de/sites/daneb/cdrdao.html It might be possible to create a second CDWriter class that uses "cdrdao" to burn CD-R in DAO mode. There are two methods to read the TOC too (cdrecord and cdda2wav). This was neccessary because some drives (Plextor PX32-TS) has problems reading the TOC with cdrecord. There is a virtual base class and one class for each helper application. We could do this for CD recording too.In the last weeks there was a major cleanup concerning class structure which will make some things much easier. Alexander |
