I installed konserve while I was still using Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10. I made a backup of my home directory onto an external hard-drive. Then, because of issues with Kubuntu 64 bit and the flashplayer in konqueror, I decided to install just regular (not 64 bit) Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 instead. I have tried to restore or untar my home backup file created in konserve, but it doesn't work. Tried to install konserve into Ubuntu to see if I needed konserve in order to restore my backup but that didn't work either. Can someone help me to get the backup tar untarred on my external drive or into my new home directory? The backup file is over 3 gigs in size compressed. My external drive is 160 gigs and mostly empty except for this file. There must be some trick or other to doing it. But nothing I've tried so far seems to work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. (Just clicking on the file shows nothing in it with the archive program; but it's over 3 gigs in size.) Elswood |

Hi I am using konserve since about a week and am saving to an external HD. I have a little monitor script running each night checking disk usage and s= o have noticed that my disk usage is creeping up quite quickly. Usually it wa= s pretty constant around 30% and now its jumped to 45%. I THINK its konserve cos otherwise I aint changed anything recently. Could you let me know if konserve creates any temporary files anywhere. I tried find-ing but couldn't seem to find something. Also seemed to no way i= n the preferences to find this out. Hi. I sent this mornig an email contaning a patch to configurationdlgbase.ui, but is catched at the moderation queue because it was too large, sorry. This time, I'm sending attached another (compressed) patch against recent CVS, that modifies all konserve *.ui files. All of them lacked a "global" layout, so when you resize the window, it can shrink, and the text doesn't shows. They also didn't look properly to users with big screens, because normally those users have bigger fonts. I have write access to KDE's CVS, so I can apply the patch myself, but I want Florian, or someone else to review it first, please. Is this possible. I have a Redhat 9.0 server with konserve installed and it works great to create a backup on the server but I also have several 'Windows' based pc on the network that I would like to backup also. I select network as the source url and get this error: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_lan'. What can I do or is this possible at all. Hello,
this is the release of Konserve v0.10.3
Konserve is a small backup application for the KDE 3.x
environment. It lives in the system tray and is able to create
regularly backups of several directories or files.=20
Bugfixes in this version:
* Konserve now respects an interval of several days between two backups
* Backing up directories works again
* Creating new backup profiles with one file as the source and one file
as the destination fixed
* Added mailinglist to the documentation
