    Keepass is really really useful to me. I have not been using the Target Window feature. I am trying to figure out what it would do for me. Any simple suggestions as to how I should think of this feature? I am thinking it could be a way to consolidate entries.

    So there would still be a title that is compared vs window titles, and more than Target Window could be added to differentiate the autotype action?

    Would there be a reason to have just one Target Window added?

    Thanks.

    Target Window matching is part of the KeePass Auto-type feature. Auto-Type types user credentials (or other user defined keystrokes) into an application when the user presses a hot key and and the entry's target window is contained in the application's window title. See the KeePass Auto-Type for details.

    I use target window matching to log onto my bank. It has a 2 page logon that is relatively complex so the matching makes it easy to find the correct data from one entry.

    cheers, Paul

    Somehow reading help, and the above posts did not get me there. I get it now, also.

    When you do Ctrl+Alt+A, and you get a match for the Title, and Auto-type is enable for the entry, and there is no Target Entry entry on the Auto-Type, then the autotype sequence selected becomes a candidate to be sent.

    When do Ctrl+Alt+A, and you get a match for the Title, and Auto-type is enable for the entry, and it is the only match, and there is is more or more Target Entry entries, and one matches the current window, then the autotype sequence selected becomes a candidate to be sent.

    If only one candidate exists, then it is normally sent. If two or more candidates exist, then you get the Auto-Type Entry Selection pop-up. This presumes that you did not tick the Tools>Options>General:"Always show the global auto-type entry selection dialog".

    To add a Target Entry to the Auto-Type tab, click Add. You then use the drop-down for the box to select a URL that this entry will match. You can select an entry, and then pare down the URL if you like. For each entry, you can choose either the default keystroke sequence, or you can choose something else-- potentially unique to that URL.
    Thus, you could have some URLs that generate {USERNAME}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER} and another entry that generates {CLEARFIELD}{DELAY=20}{USERNAME}{TAB}{DELAY 400}{PASSWORD}{ENTER} and others that generate {USERNAME}{TAB}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}
