    It would be nice when clicking a group the first item would be automatically selected (perhaps as a setting in the Options). This way the item's Notes pane could be seen at once.

    Which is the first item? The current sort first, the first raw? Change the sort order and the first selected changes, is that a good idea?
    Seems to me it's better to select the one you want.

    cheers, Paul

    Also, having the focus change from the group heirarchy to the entry list (regardless of how you define which is the "first" entry in the group) would make it difficult to edit attributes of the group (and yes, in case you haven't realized it, there are attributes for groups that users may want to edit).

    @T. Bug Reporter

    I don't see group attributes anywhere to appear. There are Notes that I can add but they appear in a tooltip. I only see the items in it and an empty Notes pane.

    I see though how setting the focus automatically on the first item would be problematic. Better formulating my request, I would rather say "Load the first item" when selecting a group.

    So KeePass could mimic this behavior:

    1. click on a group
    2. click on its first item
    3. click on the group again

    This way the first item's Notes would remain visible (just tried), and the group itself would be focused, so their attributes would be visible and you can do whatever you want with it.

    @Paul

    Yes, the first item, according to current sort. In case you need to select another one, it's still the same effort as if the first one wasn't selected. If you know that this is the expected behaviour you can name your most important items so that they appear first, or simply sort as you need it.

    I am not sure I understand why the proposed feature would be useful. In typical usage, the important entry is the entry the user needs to use at the moment, whether that is the "first" entry in a group or not will usually be coincidence.

    It would save one extra step. I have a few items in a group, often only 1 or 2 and I often have to switch to another group. Here is a quick screencap of an example setup where you can see that clicking on Group1-2-3 leaves the Notes pane empty. In my scenario chances are that if the first item would have been loaded I could copy the info I needed from there, without needing to click on it.

    I understand that it wouldn't be useful to everyone, that's why I suggested it as an optional setting.

    I don't see how arbitrarily selecting the "first" entry in a group advances the real goal of selecting the desired entry, especially in larger groups where the odds that the "first" entry is also the desired entry is small. Certainly the benefit is not great enough to justify an option, and a small adverse side effect would be enough to cancel the potential benefit.

    I'm not sure about the side effects - perhaps memory optimization to not to load something that might not be needed?

    Perhaps such setting would be more straightforward if one could make an entry "sticky", and clicking on a group would load this if enabled.

    Anyway, thank you for the comments.

    I don't see group attributes anywhere to appear.

    Right click on a group and select "Edit group", and you'll get this:

    I know this of course but I don't see any info added to the tabs there appear anywhere in the UI (eg. the Notes panel) when clicking on a group. As I wrote yesterday, the Group Notes appears in a tooltip.
