    Hi there
Before I start to try and get to grips with KP, there is a fundamental issue that I'm hoping KP can handle so that I can download and test knowing that this is the case.
Some (financial) websites that I visit have multiple login pages. Page 1 typically has a (full) username entry field which is pretty standard. Page 2 then has two entry fields, one after the other, with the first (password) being 9 characters long and the second (security code) being 5 characters.
However the required data entry on any particular visit will vary - 2nd, 3rd and 7th field say (on password) and then next time 4th, 7th and 9th. Similarly on the security code.
Can KeePass cope with this level of complexity? Can any Password Manager out there cope with this?
Here's hoping, thanks for any assistance/info.

Yes, if the second page includes variable input (e.g. a variable security code), you will need to break the auto-type into two sequences and initiate the sequences in series using the same global auto-type hot key.

So you're confirming there is no auto way of doing the data entry, I would have to manually intercede and type each and every field from some kind of text reminder?

Your surmise that native KeePass does not include automatic data entry or form filling is correct. While auto-type is a convenient method that provides a high degree of control over when and how to enter credentials, if you prefer an alternate approch, there are various third-party addons that can further automate data entry and form filling, or that implement an URL based auto-type feature. See the Integration and Transfer plugins for additional information.

There are other password managers that offer tighter browser integration (e.g. LastPass). As far as I know, the products with those capabilities employ a paid or freemium licensing model.

KeePass has no problems with that arrangement. See this thread.

Thanks guys. However, due to my level of KP knowledge, I'm having real problems writing a PICKCHAR auto-type that will work for me with the entry fields in the attached image/jpg.
You guys can probably do it standing on your head............. any chance you could do that PLEASE so that I can reverse engineer and understand where I'm going wrong? This would go in the 'Override default sequence' I presume? 5th, 7th and 8th (of 9) followed by 1st, 4th and 5th (of5).
    Grateful for your assistance.

I have a similar login screen and work around it with this.

    1. Edit the entry and select the Auto-Type tab.
    2. Add 2 custom sequences.
    3. Set the "Target window" to the same value, e.g. *MyBank*
    4. Add a "custom keystroke sequence": {C:Pass}{PICKCHARS:Password:C=3}. (I assume you are always asked for 3 characters.)
    5. The second custom sequence: {C:SecNo}{PICKCHARS:SecNo:C=3}. (SecNo would be the name of the field for the Security Number.

You need to make sure the cursor is in the correct field on the login page, then press the Global Auto-Type hot key. You will get a choice for Auto-Type and you select the appropriate one.
Place the cursor in the second login field and press the Global Auto-Type hot key. Choose the other Auto-Type.
    This all assumes the cursor moves between fields when you enter the characters. If not you will need a more convoluted sequence like this: {PICKCHARS:Password:ID=1,C=1}{TAB}{PICKCHARS:Password:ID=2,C=1}{TAB}{PICKCHARS:Password:ID=3,C=1}

Let us know how you enter the characters and what the cursor does (moves to the next field etc).

    cheers, Paul

Cheers Paul, I'll have a crack at it tomorrow.

Well, after some trial and error I eventually managed to get the data & sequencing right and had success. Learned something about KP along the way, thanks for your help Paul. Whether its a long term solution/application for controlling all my passwords, I'll have to see.
