v 1.39 when typing in a password, the letter l appears as 1 in the password field.

That is a characteristic of the font you are using, it not a KeePass bug. You can choose different fonts for both the List view font and the password font used in the Edit Entry dialog. SelectTools>Options...>Interface(GUI) in the KeePass menu.

Note: If you are using Courier New the lowercase l and the 1 (one) are different. The serif at the top of the stem of the lowercase l is horizontal, while the serif at the top of the 1 (one) slants down. This can be hard to distinguish at small point sizes.
