No

I installed KeePass 2.22 on Windows 7 SP1 (2.21 had the same problem) but, I get a "KeePass.exe - Fatal error; of CLR error: 80004005. The program will now terminate". I also get this error every time I reboot.

I did uninstall 2.21 first but, I am guessing there is some residual entry in the Registry that did not get removed. I could not find anything in the Registry after I uninstall KeePass, so I am perplexed.

Any ideas?

Oops, I just noticed the Milestone, it should be KeePass_2.x

This could be a .NET directory ownership problem. The suggested fix by Robert Cotterman is:

    1. navigate to c:\windows\microsoft.net
    2. then right click the assembly folder and click properties...
    3. go to the security tab.
    4. click advanced near the bottom
    5. in the new window go to the owner tab
    6. at the bottom click edit
    7. then click your user name (since you should be an administrator)
    8. check REPLACE OWNER ON SUBCONTAINERS AND OBJECTS
    9. click apply
    10. click ok
    11. accept any popups (usually saying you have to close the properties tab)
    12. then just keep hitting ok

Thanks for the response. I went through those steps twice and rebooted twice but, the error still pops up.

When I went to apply the change a window popped up stating: If you have just taken ownership of this object, you will need to close and reopen this object's properties befoe you can view or change permissions. That's why I rebooted.

Try this tool to perform the ownership change.

Another option is to uninstall all the .NET frameworks [in order of newest to oldest], then reinstall them [oldest to newest].

Our network at work is blocking that tool. I will do it from home this weekend and try it next week (I'm off on Fridays). I'll keep this updated with the results.

4/22/2013 - When I tried to download this tool from home, the link came up in an unreadable foreign language so, I abort that attempt.

I would repair / re-install .NET on your machine first.

    cheers, Paul

FINAL SOLUTION: Alexanderinao and Paul, as you both suggested, doing a repair on the ./NET fixed the problem. I'm a happy camper now, thank you so much.

Now this was my first ticket in sourceforge, do I grant you guys points or kudos somehow?

Do I close this ticket or does someone else do it? I don't see an option anywhere to do so.

thanks again, this started my week on a real positive note !!

Good to know your issue is sorted, Gary. Learning that is reward enough.

An admin will close this case shortly.

    Have a great week.

    Cheers,

    Jason
