i believe i have found the solution. it appears the primary sort field for printing is the "group" column, followed by the "article_no" column of the csv used to import print quantities, even though it displays in preview as sorted from the file. i have not tried to leave out the "group" column, i just replaced that information with data that kept the list in the same order. i will experiment further as time permits but this just makes KBarcode all the more functional for my everyday needs. thanks for a easy to use and straight forward product. john ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: john clayton <jwc...@gm...> Date: Mon, May 11, 2009 at 7:33 PM Subject: product in random order as serial number advancing To: kba...@li... I am using ver 2.0.7 3.5.10 "release 21.9" openSUSE 11.1 i am able to import my csv file into MySQL and create barcode labels with no problem. i encounter a problem when i try to create labels for my cartons using the serial number function so that the carton number will be printed out (carton XX of 381). I use the correct label file, i pull style data from the SQL table and i import qtys using a csv file. the goods show up in the order and quantities that i need in the final preview window. i then begin the serial number sequence at 000001 and increment by one each time. i then print to a pdf file using cups so that i may review it an pass it on to different users to print. the styles seem to have been shuffled when the file is created. the size/style run stays together but the styles are not in the order that i have imported them and viewed them earlier. when imported, i have made sure the styles are in the same sequence that they have been imported into the SQL table but they do not print out that way so styles out of sequence for the batch printing is not the issue. if you need me to send a file, i am happy to do that but as a pdf, even my small file is 3.1mb are there any queries that i can use to keep everything in the correct order? Hi Vittoria, We need some more information to help you. Which version of KBarcode doe you use? On which system do you use KBarcode? Is there any output on the commandline if you start it from konsole and try to generate a barcode? Best regards, Dom Am Donnerstag, 23. Hello, Does printing to a postscript file work from KBarcode? If this is working, it is a issue with the cups driver which converts PostScript produced by KBarcode into the Zebra printer language. If the postscript does not contain the text, it is an issue with KBarcode. In this case I would recommend to upgrade to version 2.0.7. Best regards, Dom Am Dienstag, 14. Hi, This seems to be a known issue in versions of KBarcode < 2.0.7. Please upgrade to KBarcode 2.0.7 (available from www.kbarcode.net). This should fix your problem. Hi there, I have an issue with fonts when using kbarcode on OpenSUSE 11 (tryed, same issue with a recent KUbuntu installation). System resides in a VMWare but I don't think this should be the problem. When printing (on installed printer or PDF) the font type and size of the text are ignored, everything is the same size and type, and the text is spaced out over the whole area, no matter which text orientation I have selected. Tried to print with other apps, also OpenOffice - no problem here. Please find a screenshot of the kbarcode window and the pdf document attached. Oh, and please bare in mind this is my first linux installation - so please no (please compile xyz.. ) suggestions if it can be avoided ;) Thanks a million |

Hi, How do print to the Zebra printer? Do you use any CUPS driver or KBarcodes built-in Zebra support? In case you are using KBarcode's internal Zebra support: It is _very_ experimental, so it might be that text printing is not working. You could try to embedd text as an image. But this will of course only work for static texts. best regads, Dom Am Freitag, 20. Hi, I am using kubuntu 8.10 clean install. I have installed kbarcode 2.0.7 from the sourcecode. Required dependencies are also installed - ghost script and QT 3 & QT 4. Now kbarcode prints properly on HP 1022n laser printer which is connected via network. But fails to print on zebra TLP 2844 printer - its just prints bar code and objects but not the text objects.(The same label is printing properly on HP 1022n. I am new to linux world looking for your help to set it up. Regards Muralikannan.K |

Hi, I'm using label editor to print bare code. My labels are on Iso A5 paper format. But kbarecode doesn't want taking account this parameter... I can't find anywhere to say my paper size is... Furtherway the top margin for the first label row is too big. I fix it to 7 millimeters but the print is about 2 centimeters!!! I don't understand what is the problem because the last time I used kbarecode I succeded to print my labels... What can I do? Thank you to help me. Patrick |

Hello all, I created some barcodes using the batch printing mode for my employer. I noticed to bugs: 1) The dialogue selecting a folder for creating a bunch of images is broken. It selects the folder (KDE 4.2) while moving the mouse over the directory name without pressing any buttons. 2) The main bug is the creation of filenames: all filenames are actually shifted by one barcode. The file for barcode for article number 7049034 is called 7049018.png, the file for barcode 7049042 is called 7049034.png, the file for barcode 7049067 is 7049042.png and so on. Stonki |

Thanks for the feedback. The text line tool isn't very descriptive, but if my memory isn't failing me, it's supposed to be used on "primitive" barcode printers. That would explain why it doesn't fit anywhere. It would be great if you could get the Ubuntu guys to upgrade the package, thanks in advance! Thanks. I tried it out and it works. Unfortunately, it seems like the "insert text line" tool prints far too large now, at least if you use Time Roman 8 pt (and possibly others). Fortunately, the "insert text" tool works, at least if you use the default sans serif 9. At this point I have good barcode labels. Thanks for your quick response. I was able to 1) set up kbarcode to use a sqlite db 2) create a csv file with my data 2) create labels 3) set up a batch However, all the text fields in my labels have exceedingly tiny fonts. With a magnifying glass I can confirm that the batch processing is working. (The right data is appearing). On the label creator everything looks fine. However, the text is too small to read. Any ideas? I'm running kbarcode on ubuntu-8.04 (natively gnome, but I loaded kde). Hi, I was hoping to integrate kbarcode with my existing mysql database. However, even though kbarcode can connect to the mysql database, I can't seem to create the kbarcode tables. Greetings, I'm running kbarcode on ubuntu 8.04.1 desktop. Ubuntu has v 2.0.6 of kbarcode. I originally got kbarcode from the standard ubuntu repositories, and it worked. I was even able to get kbarcode to connect to my database. Then, for unrelated reasons, I upgraded software on the box (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade). After that, kbarcode stopped working. Thinking that the problem might be fixed in the latest release of kbarcode, I downloaded the stable release (2.0.7). After installing a few development libraries (xorg-dev and others), I was able to succesfully compile. However, kbarcode still fails on startup. Could you post the output of the configure script? The easiest and the most readable way is to use the "script filename.txt" command before running configure, so that the output will be captured in that file. If you send that file to me, I'll try to help figuring out what's gone wrong on your system. Which is, I presume, Ubuntu by the way? > So, I've found kbarcode 2.0.6 with Ubuntu Intrepid packages. Hi, I would like to use kbarcode 2.0.7 but I couldn't build it because the command './configure --prefix=/etc/kde3' failed... So, I've found kbarcode 2.0.6 with Ubuntu Intrepid packages. Now I try to use it but there is a bug into the text font size at the print time (always the same size and too small). Is there anyone to help me? Thank you. |

I found the following solution while searching in my archives: sudo apt-get remove libpostscriptbarcode That should fix it in Ubuntu. |

First, Thanks for the great program kbarcode there is a very great program. If you need a forum, then I have a server in Denmark and you can have the forum at this server for free. I have searched for som solution on an error I get everytime I try to start the Kbarcode program and then I find that you need a place to have a forum so because you have made this great software for free I also will give the space for the forum for free ofcourse :-) If you can use the error to finding some solution I have inserted the error code and the end of this mail. Hi, Zsolt and I have started to part KBarcode to KDE4 some time ago. See [0] for the sources in SVN. Unfortunately we both do not have to much time (ok, mostly I do not have any time), that's why the port is stuck currently. But the long term goal is of course to get KBarcode to be ported to KDE4 and then it should be easy to compile it on Windows, too. Regarding the KDE4 port: any help is appreciated! best regards, Dom [0] http://kbarcode.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/kbarcode/trunk/ > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: "G.W." <mol...@gm...> > Gesendet: 20.11.08 21:49:15 > An: kba...@li... > Betreff: [Kbarcode] KDE 4? > Will Kbarcode at some point be using the kde4 codebase?
