I'm using 2.0.6 on Ubuntu 8.04 (I forgot to tell) I've tryed in other two similar systems (coworkers computers) and we had the same error. Finally I managed to print the labels, the trick was to enlarge the text size from 8pt to 22pt, although the text was too large, once we print the label the text appears in correct size. If I need to print more bar codes, I'll use 2.0.7 version. Thanks. Dominik Seichter escribió: > Hi, > > which version of KBarCode do you use? I tried to use the print barcode option (using Tec option in the dropdown list > /dev/usb/lp0) and the printer didn't work. I don't know if there is some cups driver anywhere in order to setup this printer via cups. If you have any howto, guide or test that I should make, please tell me because I'm really interessed. TIA. Hello, I'm trying to use Avery 6577 label stock, which is in imperial measurements. After numerous attempts trying to create a label definition in metric, I've made it to a point where it almost works. The label stock has 2 columns of 16 labels. When batch printing and starting in position 1, there is a slight drift of the printed label on the paper that accumulates to about 3-4 mm by then end of the paper. Is there a suggested method for printing on label stock that uses imperial measurements? Or maybe someone has a working label definition for Avery 6577? Thanks, Joe |

Hello, welcome to the list! The letter you encountered after the value is most likely the checksum. Try generating a barcode of type "Code 39 no checksum" (using the GNU barcode backend). Hello everyone, I am new to the listserv and kbarcode as well. I am trying to generate some basic barcodes using the CODE 39 barcode format. I'm also not using any database info. I simply want to print a series of barcodes starting at 31207835 and ending at 31207864. I used "[serial]" as the value in the barcode. Then I go to batch print and enter the starting value, 31207835. The barcodes print fine, in that they increase properly. However, at the end of each number there is a letter. So 31207835 becomes 31207835T and the next barcode is 31207836U, etc. Can anyone assist me in removing the letters from the barcodes. I hope this makes sense and I truly appreciate any help with this. Thank you. Mont |

Hello, No, there is currently no direct way to do this. I usually create a label definition using the bounding rectangle of the circle of the cd label and draw a circle using Kbarcode on the rectangular label shape which can be used as cut mark. regards, Dom Am Freitag, 12. Hi, Sorry for the late answer. Which version of KBarcode do you use? The issue with the different text size during print was fixed in version 2.0.7 as far as I know. The new line problem should also be fixed in this version. I will look into the image saving issue. Thanks for reporting! best regards, Dom PS: Nice labels that you are designing using KBarcode. Wondering if I could get a little help with this? There's a few things I don't get. Like the text that I want to add to a label, I get it all set up and it looks right, even in the preview it looks right. Then I print it, and the text is a different size, no longer centered, and the tiny words are spaced out half an inch from eachother. The top image in this link is what it looks like in preview, the bottom is the same image printed. The text is messed up in this same way if I print it to a postscript or PDF file, as well. http://www.cyborgcow.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10057/right.png http://www.cyborgcow.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10057/dsc02043.jpg Another text problem I found was that when inserting text and hitting return to start a new line, it does not show up as a new line when it's displayed on the label. Additionally, if I select Print to Image from the File menu, I get an error after typing in the name of the file I want to save it as. It acts as if it tries to execute the filename as a command instead of saving it as an image with that filename, note this error message after an attempt at doing this: "Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder file:///home/sunrise/New Folder_1/test.pbm does not exist." I'm on Kubuntu Hardy, running KDE 3.5.9 |

I want to write a web frontend that batch prints labels. However, when batch printing only one label, only one field in filled in, two labels two fields etc. For some reason the number of records returned by the query will also be the number of field values filled in by the app. Wondering if someone could help me with a fix, or give me a short tutorial on getting a debugger to work in linux. I have Kdevelop with the project, but I can't get it to debug. Thanks. Patrick |

If you get a a keyboard wedge style barcode wand it will do the barcode reading for you and deliver the decoded characters to your app. I have called Kbarcode from a program using Python and fed it the appropriate information from a csv file to print out labels. > Asides that do you know any open source software that print barcode, read > barcode and do database lookup based on barcode information? > I'd like to translate kbarcode to portuguese. In my opinion, KBarcode should rather become a more general label designer/printer application in the future. Reading barcodes and managing databases should be left to other software. That said, I don't know any apps for it. Maybe you could try searching for it on sourceforge.net, berlios.de and code.google.com... To translate KBarcode, all you need to do is: - Download the latest release (or CVS source) - Find the file po/kbarcode.pot - Rename it to pt.po (IIRC that's the language code for portuguese) - Translate the strings in the file with poedit, KBabel or your text editor of choice. Take a look at the other translations for examples. - When you're done, send the file to the list or directly to me, and I'll commit it to CVS. Thank you in advance, and greetings: Zsolt |

Hey, Do you have plan to integrated kbarcode with some kind of barcode reader driver? Asides that do you know any open source software that print barcode, read barcode and do database lookup based on barcode information? I'd like to translate kbarcode to portuguese. How do i proceed? Thanks for informing us about your very intersting project. It looks like it will be a good successor for GNU Barcode. The current API looks sufficient for including it into KBarcode. Details may come up when we really try to include it. In this case I would contact you. So I put this on my TODO list, but we still are in the progress of porting KBarcode to KDE4 which will still take some time. After it is done, adding zint would be a great new feature! regards, Dom Am Dienstag, 3. Hi, Just to inform everyone. KBarcode 2.0.7 was released today. This maintenance release fixes bugs that prevent using KBarcode on recent distributions. For this reason, workarounds for bugs in Qt 3.3.2 and earlier have been removed, therefore those versions are no longer supported. The source package was tested on Mandriva One 2008.1 and Ubuntu 8.04, among others. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. Please report any bugs or feature requests to our mailing list: kba...@li... Ciao, Dom -- ********************************************************************** Dominik Seichter - dom...@we...
