So I speak for myself. Yes the development is a bit sluggish.
What it remains to do for 2.1:

Here is what should be done or at least tried before we ship, Finn
position could be different.

About the bugs:

These are good old friends some even historical, I would say out of priority.
__builtin__.id() does not return unique values for different
multi-line statements in the JPython interpreter
Can't acces public member of package private base class
__getitem__ expected, but not defined for java exc.

Out of the rest I think the following are important:

* open('test.txt','w').write('test')
which in this form cannot be solved but is related to the problem
of properly flushing files not closed by the user, there have
been some discussion on the list, and Finn had some ideas.

* Tuple unpacking raises KeyError 
this is taken by Finn: no idea

* jythonc 2.1a3 --package problem
* jythonc --deep pjy$packages problem
These are my fault, I know how to solve so ...

Initial Comment:
I have just gone to the download page and downloaded the class file there. I then ran:
 java jython-20

but got:
 Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: 
                 __Finjan_Substitute_Data_ARAGABALDDEBSS

Is it the case that all that is required to download is a single class file - that doesn't seem much to 
implement a whole language?

There is no way to fit an if AND its else on a single line.  You are fully
correct that newline characters (and indentation) should be inserted
instead:

The above statement isn't valid in (C)Python, either; I'd suggest you create
a multiline string.  I'm not sure how to fit the 'else' statement in on the
end of a single line...

interp.exec( erpFormula );

The runtime error is: Syntax error: invalid syntax. Evidentally it chokes on 
the else keyword.

If I remove the else..., it runs correctly.

[Jython-dev] attributes for objects and dir()

call. I found the dir() command to be handy when learning Jython. How do I
define the __dict__, __methods__ and __members__ attributes in Jython, is it
any different than in Python?

I have just downloaded version 2.1a3 (so I can use many of the
python 2.1 compatible features). The self extraction and installation
seeming to go fine with no errors, but when I type jython, it pauses
and then just returns to the command line.

can anyone help me get this working?

[Jython-dev] try-except+return bug

consider the following function:

def f():
  try:
    return 1
  except SomeException:
    return 2
  except:
    return 3

when i try to call this in jython, running on the jvm included in
win 2000, jython will die. problem seems to be that you cant have
a return in the try block if you have returns in all of the
following excepts.

this works fine with other jvms ive tried, so i guess this is a bug
in ms' jvm?

me.
i know this lib is new, is this a known issue?
