Currently, clicking in the gutter to select a line does not change the caret's position, but it should move the caret to the edge of the new selection.

With the current behavior: scroll so that the caret is off screen, select a line with the gutter, then type a letter. You can't see what you typed because the editor will scroll back to the caret! If you cut the line instead, the caret will move to the new location, but the screen will jump so that the caret is in the middle of the screen. Both have been annoying me for a while.

With the patch, jEdit matches the behavior of the best other editors I have used, including Scintilla and Visual Studio.
