that's interesting. it did absolutely nothing for me with XFree86 4.0.2,
TrueType fonts, and Blackdown 1.2.2. what JDK and XServer are you using to test
this under GNU/Linux?

from what i remember, Dirk tested it and reported good results under WinNT/Sun
JDK 1.3.
