Hi. I was wondering if there's an ongoing effort to make PluginHolder work in the near future. I think the ability to dock plugin windows into a jEdit's view is really neat and especially user-friendly since users usually don't like dealing with too many windows. Is it worth it to make a plugin holdable at all? I mean, if the PluginHolder gets broken every now and then, all the plugins that use it also get broken. So if there's a maintainer for PluginHolder, please let me know about the future of it. Also, is/could there be a list of plugins that are compatible and work properly with a certain release? I mean the plugin manager is proabobly smart enough not to download any plugin that doesn't meet the requirements (jEdit version, in particular), but that still doesn't mean that a plugin will work. Perhaps such a list could be made available on the plugin central? And my last point - what's everybody's position on grouping plugins. For example, instead of having JBrowse, ViewJavaDoc, CodeAid etc. plugins, there could be a single plugin called JavaDeveloper that would integrate all those plugins (all plugins that are targeted at a Java developer). Let me know what you think. Have fun, Matt |
