I'm not having this issue with other applications, but I'm leaning toward it being more a Windows issue too. The problem really didn't start until last couple weeks, so maybe there was something in the last round of patches. Curious that Java just completely dies though. jEdit is really the only Java app I am running constantly, since I'm not running other apps like OpenOffice, so I don't have a good basis for comparison.
