I tried your extra word characters below and they work fine for me. If I use
any of the lines below, then typing a word with a dash in it, e.g.
"sjddf-dfdfd", putting the caret after the word, and clicking Ctrl+Left
Arrow brings me to the beginning of the word (without the dash in the extra
word characters, it would bring me to the position after the dash).
Maybe you expect to see the effect in some other functionality of jEdit?
