[ jEdit-users ] syntax coloring file editor?

would it be possible to make same kind of syntax-coloring file editor?
I know that syntax file is complex and made for specific content type
(php, perl, tex, ...) and that user can change (Global options->Syntax
highlighting) color for predefined "types" (comment, digit, function,
...) but in few cases it would be very useful for user to be able to
add some specific token to parsing rules and editor would be ideal in
those situations instead of editing rather complex syntax file.

Now, do you think that would be useful and wort doing?
