[ jEdit-users ] characters past the wrap margin

Is there a way jEdit can be configured so that under no circumstances does it put characters past the wrap margin, except for the warning character to indicate that a line has wrapped?
You can get close to this by using soft word wrap. However if the line has no blanks there can be text past the wrap margin.
