Something will definitely have to give eventually. As Dave mentioned, 1.5 is nearing it's end of life, which means there will no longer be any updates coming from Sun. Besides performance benefits (Newer GC), one feature I'm looking forward to, is the javax.scripting package addition to 1.6. My script engine plugins currently use the jsr-223 jars, but they aren't being maintained anymore. This could simplify the jEdit core BeanShell integration. As for older Macs, has anyone tried running jEdit using SoyLatte? http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/ I think it works on Intel Macs, not sure if there's a possible solution for PPC. -- Learn from the past.
