The Jump plugin may provide some of the functionality you are
describing.  I will take you to the definition of a thing very quickly,
but it doesn't currently show you every use of the thing you are looking
for.  It's based on ProjectViewer and Ctags.  I believe it can
automatically update when a file is saved.
