Hi, Today I upgraded from 4.3pre15 to 4.3pre16 and I found that scrolling was very slow and laggy. I noticed that it was worse when the lines of text being rendered were long, and so I fiddled about with some of the "Text Area" options. I have found that in 4.3pre16 the scrolling goes very laggy if the "Anti Aliased smooth text" option is set to "subpixel" and the "Fractional font metrics" option is enabled. If I change either of these options, e.g I enable fractional font metrics but use "standard" anti-aliasing, then the scrolling is fine again. Similar if I leave the anti-aliasing on "subpixel" but disable fractional font metrics I again get good scrolling performance back. I am using Vista 64-bit with Java 1.6.0_12 (32-bit). -- Paul Richards |
