It is better (for me, especially) to rewrite my example as follows (view with
a monospaced font):
Fold Document
Level Content
| ---+ An L1 Heading
1 | optional text
| | optional text
| | ---++ An L2 Heading
| 2 | optional text
| | | optional text
| | | ---+++ An L3 Heading
| | 3 | optional text
| | | | optional text
| | | ---+++ Another L3 Heading
| | 3 | optional text
| | | | optional text
| ---+ Another L1 Heading
1 | optional text
The first set(s) of pipes are used to indicate the extent of each folding
region. By looking at this, I realize I don't have the problem I thought I'd
have.
That is, for example, a new level 3 fold starting on the line immediately
following the ending of the previous level 3 fold--instead, the next Level 3
heading is actually part of a level 2 fold that encompasses (in this example)
both level 3 folds.
As to the other questions I posed in the now deprecated email, I'll post those
separately.
